The 2014 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards

Last night, fashion’s finest celebrated the 11th annual CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Awards, where the winners of this year’s prizes were announced (with the grand prize being $300k to be used towards the winning designer’s business…not too shabby). And although it’s important to know who was the lucky recipient of this prize, we also need to know who wore what, as I haven’t done a red carpet post in a while and I think I’m overdue for one. Don’t you?

Pictured here is the grand prize winner, shoe designer Paul Andrew (who will more than likely get a post to himself here on CCF…his shoes are pretty badass) pictured with runners-up Ryan Roche and Eva Fehren.

So now that you know the important stuff, let’s get to the good stuff.

Mind definitely not blown.

This is not what I think of when I  think of Zac Posen, and that’s why I love it. I can’t tell if it’s a jumpsuit or separates (fingers crossed it’s a jumpsuit) but regardless, an all white open back outfit with white heels in November? It shouldn’t work but it totally does (also would make for a really unique bridal look…why wear a dress when you can wear a jumpsuit?)

Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow

Public School’s Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow

You know I rarely care about what the guys wear to these things, but when you dress like this how can I not take notice? If I were a guy this is exactly how I’d dress (and sometimes I do anyway…)

Vanessa Axente

This is just an odd thing to see in November but fashion folks usually don’t care what season it is — they’ll wear what they want, when they want to wear it. This is different from the Zac Posen look because at least that had long sleeves and pants…this is just a little springy for my taste (if Starbucks is already using the holiday cups, a blush sleeveless dress should not be your first choice).

Sofia Sanchez Barrenechea

Elegant with a bit of edge…the perfect look for an event like this.

 Leigh Lezark

Leigh Lezark in Proenza Schouler

Not just because it’s Proenza (okay maybe a little bit) but this was one of my favorite looks of the night. Her blunt straight bob against the black and white turtleneck is just everything. And those shoes? GET IN MY LIFE.

kate foley

Kate Foley in Tome

I adore Kate Foley and I’m a huge fan of Tome but this dress doesn’t seem very flattering (although this is coming from the girl who wears loose-on-loose all day, err day).

alexa chung

Alexa Chung in Stella McCartney & a Shrimps clutch

The dress I’m a huge fan of — black and navy is my jam, the cut is super cool and the details are amazing. Okay, dress. Done. But the bag? I realize fur accessories are a major trend right now but this just looks like she’s carrying around a stuffed animal.

prabal gurung

This is how you do “vampy” without being so literal or taking it too far. I’d give it two thumbs up (three if I had an extra hand).

Imaan Hammam in Derek Lam, pictured with the designer

I am 100% on board with this from the ankles up — the bright suede, the stud details, THAT RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME HAIR. I’m so damn happy, then I look at the shoes and it makes me sad. Too matchy and the choice of wedges as opposed to heels is just odd.

karlie kloss, jason wu

Not sure how I feel about blonde Karlie but fine, I’ll deal with that. The dress is okay…although I’m not exactly sure what’s going on by her left hip. But those shoes are hideous. And that’s not an opinion, it’s a fact.

tanya taylor, cfda

Gillian Jacobs, Tanya Taylor & Jenny Slate, all in Tanya Taylor

All together it’s fun to look at but Jenny is by far the best dressed of the group. Unconventional pairing with the shoes but unlike Karlie’s choice, I DIG IT.

Joan Smalls in Stella McCartney, Lily Aldridge in Juan Carlos Obando, Constance Jablonski in Peter Som & Alessandra Ambrosio in Versus Versace

Good thing they’re all gorgeous and although models can pull of anything, it doesn’t necessarily mean they should. Joan’s dress I’d wear to lunch in the summer. Lily’s looks way too big up top (and the drawstring isn’t doing anything for me). I want to like Constance’s outfit (the Gigi Burris Millinery headband is pretty cool) but with the headpiece, the awkward shape gold pants and this tube top situation, it looks a little costumey. So I guess that would leave me with Alessandra as my favorite look of the four, which makes sense because black and gold always wins.

So what do you think? Any favorites from the night?

And if that’s not enough,  check out these sweet designs from last night’s winners — Paul Andrew, Eva Fehren & Ryan Roche.
