SociaLifeChicago is a digital publication dedicated to the up and coming professional, specializing in lifestyle content on fashion, beauty, philanthropy, special events and more. They’re currently looking for enthusiastic, extremely organized, hard-working team members who understand the digital space and want to gain first-hand, real world experience in digital publishing and contribute to a growing startup.

Job Title: Editorial Assistant

Description: SociaLifeChicago seeks three (3) editorial assistants for daily content development and production. The ideal candidate should be a strong writer and researcher, with a passion for the SociaLifeChicago brand. This position will provide you with exposure and a unique opportunity to do everything from pitching your own ideas to helping shape and grow the publication’s voice. Candidates should be flexible, deadline driven and engaging self starters looking to gain experience. Content will center around fashion / lifestyle, career development and social / leisure topics.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the editor to develop ideas for stories
  • Report, research and write content for the fashion, entertainment, career and lifestyle sections
  • Assist with conception and production of newsletter, website posts as well as create custom content for advertorials and social media copy
  • Conduct and transcribe interviews, along with fact-checking and copy editing
  • Work with editor to continue to develop and refine the voice, tone, and content of SociaLifeChicago
  • Manage workflow, meeting appointments and internal communications
  • Develop relationships with other media outlets, PR agencies, and key stakeholders
  • Other related day-to-day editorial tasks

Requirements:

  • At least 1.5-3 years of publishing experience.
  • Excellent research, writing and reporting skills, with a strong point of view, and ability to connect with readers
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • A working knowledge of WordPress and Photoshop
  • Experience writing and reporting news, entertainment, health / fitness and / or lifestyle content
  • Write up to 3 articles a day
  • Create custom content as needed for advertising partners
  • Fluent in pop culture and reads a wide range of online newspapers, magazines, websites, and blogs daily.
  • Passionate about fashion, beauty, health and more.
