Gladiator Sandals

After I decided to write this post, I’ve been listening to Common on repeat. Always a good way to get your weekend started.

But let’s talk about gladiator sandals, shall we?

See how crafty I got in Pages? This is because I don’t know how to use Photoshop (yes I’m a blogger who doesn’t know how to use Photoshop…sue me) and I thought I’d spruce up my image today. I’m overly proud of this. Not going to lie. But back to the shoes…

Gladiator sandals are a trend that’s come and gone over the last few years. And the best part is? You don’t have to be a gladiator to wear them. Shocking, I realize. The crazy knee-high gladiator boots are great for runway, but I have no idea how this will translate to real life. So if someone wants to test out these Tom Fords for me, that would be great.

Some of the most notable gladiator sandals this season came from Proenza Schouler, Altuzarra and Versace. Surprisingly, all of which went into production with little or no modifications (why Proenza couldn’t do this for Spring 2010, we’ll never know). I love the idea of a knee-high gladiator sandal, although I’m not sure how often I’m going to see them on the streets of Chicago. But if you dig the look and don’t think you could rock something so avant-garde, there are plenty of toned down options (re: Manolo flat sandals or YSL heels). Whether you want to go all the way with this trend or just stick to a simple sandal, here’s a little something to get you started.

  1. I would totally rock the Verssace pair on the streets of Chicago! I have a few pairs of gladiator flats in rotation that will have to do for now…

Also, I am another blogger who does not know how to use her photoshop – you are not alone 🙂
