What Why Where: H&M Chicago

Have you heard who’s getting an all new makeover right here in Chicago? (I guess the title totally gives it away, huh?)

Word on the street is that H&M Michigan Avenue is having a little…work done. And what better way to celebrate than with a sparkly knit H&M outfit? (makes perfect sense, I KNOW).

WHAT (am I wearing):
Top: c/o H&MPants: c/o H&M. Sunglasses: Celine. Bag: M2MALLETIER. Shoes: Nicholas Kirkwood.

WHY (am I wearing it):
Because an all new H&M will be unveiled this Thursday, November 19th (at 10am if you must to be the first to experience it), I thought I’d do a little shopping while I say goodbye to the old fixtures, graphics, etc. I’ve been considering a knit-on-knit look since Marc Jacobs Fall ’14 but the opportunity never really came along…until now. I spotted this glittery knit outfit the other day at H&M and it seemed totally crazy, but with the right accessories I just had to make it work. I knew undone hair and these Celine sunnies would be a must, but shoes were a little tricky. I typically give myself some height when it comes to wide leg pants / flares but I decided to go in a different direction with some pointed toe flats. I’m already going a bit outside my comfort zone with the clothes, why not do so with the shoes too?!

Although there were some awesome pieces when I was at the Michigan Avenue store over the weekend, I have a feeling the merchandise is going to be pretty insane for the opening on Thursday (plus, there will be an all new H&M home section so you can finally make your Pinterest boards a reality!) One of the coolest initiatives I noticed when I was there is their clothing recycling program. For each bag of clothing you donate, you’ll get a 15% voucher to use towards your next purchase. Saving money AND the environment? It’s a win-win! And if you’re really itching to clean out your closet, those who bring clothing to be donated BEFORE 10am this Thursday will receive an H&M gift card on top of the original voucher. While you’re there, be sure to stick around because the first 200 shoppers will receive a cool tee, an Access to Fashion pass (valued up to $300) and some other fun surprises. And you know I’m all about those Chi City Careers so be sure to check out the H&M careers page for Chicago openings.
