JOB TITLE: Media Director

The Media Director must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to adapt to new conditions, assignments and deadlines. S/he must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically PowerPoint and Excel, as well as MAC programs. They must have a solid understanding of social media as well as the basics of community management and search engine visibility. Strong project management skills are a must.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
The MD must have a basic understanding of the role that the social media plays in restaurant communication strategies. S/he must understand and be able to assist in the development of Facebook, Twitter, Instargram, Tumblr, Pinterest including managing content calendars/communication within each social media outlet. The MD must also have solid research, writing and editing skills. S/he must understand why online monitoring is important and be able to identify tools (paid and free) that can be used to identify relevant conversations and influencers. The MD must also have strong communication skills as s/he is the link between Public Relations & the Restaurants, and responsible for all outgoing Restaurant content, both written and implied.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop strategy for both restaurants’ internal social media and digital marketing
  • Assist with building social media momentum/followers
  • Develop promotions for each Restaurant & Promote them
  • Assist with managing basic updates to sites and/or applications for all areas of Restaurant accounts including Facebook, Twitter and blogs
  • Respond to comments on Facebook and Twitter on behalf of the Restaurant
  • Research content ideas using online monitoring tools and search engines
  • Prepare and/or review activity reports, metrics reports and status reports for ownership/other management
  • Work with PR team to develop brand strategy
  • Manage basic updates to sites and/or applications for all areas of each Restaurant
  • Exhibit effective project management
  • Analyze market research including using online services to benefit Restaurants, for example: American Express,
  • Assess online marketing strategies

The Media Director must have 2-3 years of relevant PR/Social Media/and/or Restaurant experience. S/he should have an intricate level of understanding of the role that the Internet plays in a restaurant’s communication mix and its ability to generate traffic and revenue. The MD may also assist in the development of online marketing/issues management campaigns. Basic knowledge of website structure, digital space and social media is also a plus.
