The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

You know when you get something, wear it to death and then eventually get sick of it but you’ll never get rid of it? That’s how I feel about today’s [what I like to call] Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (but instead of Joseph…it’s Jena!)

Damn that moon is HEAVY.

WHAT (am I wearing):
Coat: Proenza Schouler. Dress: GivenchyPants: The RowShoes: Nicholas Kirkwood. Rings: Dana Rebecca, Ellie Jay.

WHY (am I wearing it):
As I was saying before, this coat was one of those things I wore the SHIT out of circa 2011 / 2012 and we took a break for a while (last time you saw it was probably here…and that’s only if you’re a long time CCF reader). Now we’re back together (you know how the story goes). I’ve been rockin’ a lot of neutrals lately so I thought I’d bring back some old school Jena and brighten things up today (especially because it’s still so damn cold…like when will I be able to feel hot sun on a roof top again?) Now without this coat, this would just be another all-neutral-OMG-Jena-there’s-more-to-life-than-an-all-black-look outfit (although those kimono sleeves are pretty badass, right?) Plus, you know I love a good dress with pants combo. I’ve told you before that I typically reserve any chunky platforms for flares / wide leg pants but I thought I would change it up today and do a skinny pant (leather, always) with this type of footwear. It’s a little 90s but I don’t hate it (what goes around comes around…even Full House!) Overall, it goes to show that outerwear can make an outfit (which is super important when living in places that are cold a majority of the time like Chicago). Also know that just because it’s an investment, doesn’t mean you necessarily have to wear it all the time. You’ll have it forever, so what’s the rush? Now it just feels like I have a brand new coat, even though I’ve had it for four years!

That’s all, friends. Have an amazing technicolor weekend 🙂
