Let’s Get Pretty

As much as I joke about New Years resolutions, the ones I posted earlier this week are sort of true. They are things I’d like to accomplish but if it doesn’t all happen in 2013 I’m not going to freak out about it (plus I know I’m going to have difficulty with resolution 4).

So let’s take baby steps and visit resolution 2: up the beauty routine.

As of a few weeks ago (yes I got a head start), I started incorporating some new concoctions into my beauty regimen and also bringing back some things that I stopped using due to pure laziness (see: Clarisonic). I don’t post about beauty often but it’s something I enjoy and makes me feel good (not as good as buying a new Proenza bag, but you get the picture). So if your skin is feeling a little dull or your hair could use a boost, I hope you’ll try some of my favorite beauty products for 2013.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate (pictured above) is actually one of the best things I’ve ever used on my face. I got a sample of this last month and was immediately hooked. Just a couple drops of this at night before bed and you’ll wake up with the perfect glow, plus you won’t be able to stop touching your face. It will be that soft.

RéVive Moisturizing Renewal Eye Cream is like the Barneys of eye creams. It’s luxurious, satisfying and always gets the job done. Of any beauty products, eye cream is the one thing I’m really willing to splurge on (mostly because my under eye area tends to look like I got punched in the face, thanks to genetics). So fortunately (because it works) and unfortunately (because it’s pricey), this is my new must-have in the beauty department.

Clarisonic is probably one of the best skincare devices created in recent years. It’s super easy to use, yet I still find myself getting lazy and often forgetting about it. Clarisonic and I rekindled our relationship a few weeks back and things have been going well ever since. My skin is insanely soft, tone is more even and overall my face just feels extra clean. Hopefully we’ll still be together after this whole “New Years resolution” thing has died down.

Kiehl’s Superbly Restorative Argan Oil is one of those “jack of all trades” type of things. This is also something I’ve used in the past, but mostly on my skin. Because Moroccan Oil was not meshing well with my hair, I tried Argan Oil instead and it immediately showed results. It’s much thinner so it doesn’t leave build up…perfect for smoothing split ends. Anyone who applies heat to their hair regularly should definitely try this (it’s even better when used in combination with Redken’s Anti-Snap).

Bumble & Bumble Semi Sumo is the first actual hair styling product I’ve bought in a long time. I tend to use mostly treatments and care products as opposed to those meant for styling. My hair is always a mess, so why bother? Well, Semi Sumo makes my mess look messier…but in a more defined way (if that makes any sense at all). If you style your hair wavy on a regular basis, this is where it’s at.

  1. The Kiehl’s midnight recovery works so well, especially in the winter, but unfortunately I ended up having an allergic reaction to it 🙁 I definitely want to try out the Bumble & Bumble!

  3. I love the Midnight Recovery Concentrate. On bottle number two now! Beauty Resolutions? Taking care of my skin by drinking tons of water, eating more vegetables and getting timely sleep.
