NYFW Fall 2013 Day 4

Every fashion week I get one “break day” where I only have a few shows…and I dedicate the rest of the day to Opening Ceremony (I realize I do have my priorities straight). Yesterday was one of those days and it felt damn good.

Show 1 of 2: Lela Rose.

The central theme of Lela Rose Fall 2013 is the book of Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales. The combination of dark humor, beauty and emotion are what had the most influence on this collection, represented by playful elements like feathers, bright colors and prints in combination with black lace and a darker color palette. You can always expect super feminine looks from Lela Rose, so matter how “dark” the inspiration can be, she’ll always have those ladylike silhouettes.

So after Lela, some photos with Dan (which you may get to see more of on Friday) and my required trip to Opening Ceremony (where I learned this happened) it was time for Vivienne Tam…where a puppy had a better seat than me (he’s much cuter than I am, so I totally understand).

Fall 2013 is all about “cultural dialogue, change and awakenings” for Vivienne Tam. She was inspired by the punk movement and questioning status quo, as well as pop art and even the Chinese New Year. Sounds like a lot going on but it’s surprisingly a cohesive collection. Look 1 is a leather sleeve jacket with an Obama print and a QR code (a print that shows up quite frequently throughout the collection by the way). I don’t care if you’re right or left, that print is pretty genius. And of the QR code actually works, I’m so sold.

And of course following my most “chill” day comes my craziest day ever. Happy Monday to me. Wish me luck.
