As the great Frank Sinatra once said, Come fly with me, let’s fly, let’s fly away. But what he didn’t mention was flying away in a mini dress and Saint Laurent glitter boots…
I haven’t done a Throwback Thursday here in quite a while, and what better occasion to revive it than CANNES TIME? Yes, it’s that time of year again — where both American and foreign A-listers gather in the south of France to
celebrate film be photographed in expensive borrowed gowns for all of us to judge. But because the festival kicked off just yesterday, I wanted to wait a bit before we discussed this year’s red carpet so I thought I’d compromise and talk about the best of the Cannes red carpet from years past (as well as the not-so-great, the…interesting, and the Diane Kruger — a category of its own).
Typically, I only do a couple of red carpet posts when it comes to the Oscars (which if you haven’t checked it out yet, parts one and two are waiting for you) but because this year was pretty disappointing, I thought I’d take a look at the after party dresses. Best Dressed Pick
Feeling inspired by the New York Times‘s Red Carpet Project, I wanted to make my own curated red carpet list with what I think to be the greatest Oscars red carpet looks in the last 15 years. Granted anything pre-2006 was quite difficult to choose (it just wasn’t a good time for fashion) but I found a few timeless looks that would make sense to see on the red carpet today. Because I just can’t wait to get my judging on this weekend, I’m starting…NOW.

Because I’m itching for a red carpet post and the Golden Globes aren’t until January 13 (same night as Girls season 2 premiere…why would you make us choose?!) I wanted to round up the best red carpet looks of this past year.
Please note these are only from major red carpet events. There’s a movie premiere or some magazine party just about every week. But THESE are the red carpet events that really matter (plus I just can’t keep track of the other ones).
