Prabal Gurung Fall 2011: It’s All In The Details

I’ve been intrigued by Prabal Gurung ever since his debut Fall 2009 collection because of his close attention to detail. Nearly 3 years later, his designs have evolved but his high quality fashion-forward aesthetic has remained the same. Just when I think it’s not possible, his collections get better and better every season. The details in his Fall 2011 collection have really stood out to me and because of my Prabal obsession…these pieces deserve their own post.

And this was only Fall ’11…have you seen Spring ’12? When it comes to the details, Prabal is on another level. It’s why he’s been one of my favorite designers since that Fall 2009 debut collection, and will continue to be one for many seasons to come.

Chi City Closet: Louis Vuitton Lockit Clutch

Ever since I saw the Louis Vuitton Lockit Clutch on the Fall 2011 runway, I knew I had to have this piece.

I was disappointed when I found out this was not available online and there was an immediate waitlist. Whenever I see a runway piece I can’t stop thinking about, I do whatever I can to get it. I was wait listed at several Louis Vuitton stores and never got a call. After visiting my parents in the burbs last weekend my mom told me she had a surprise for me and the first thing I noticed was a Louis Vuitton box. Clearly my runway stalking has rubbed off on my mom…

I am now the proud owner of the Louis Vuitton Fall ’11 Lockit clutch! This is by far one of the coolest bags I own. I haven’t worn this out yet (so here’s your sneak peak!) but I cannot wait to wear it.

My Favorite Fall/Winter Coats For 2011

A few weeks ago, I shared with you my favorite capes and ponchos for 2011. Although I love capes and ponchos, they aren’t for everyone. However, who doesn’t need a great coat for the Fall/Winter season? (especially those of us in Chicago!) I picked my favorites in a variety of styles and price points so I hope you can find one you love.

Current Obsession: Dolce & Gabbana Star Print iPhone Case

If you keep up with me on Twitter you’ve probably figured out by know my obsession with the Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2011 collection. Dolce & Gabbana has never really been a go-to brand for me but they knocked it out of the park for this season. I already own the star-print dress (seen here) but there are so many other star printed items I’m dying to have from the collection. If I have the chance to purchase anything else from Dolce & Gabbana Fall ’11, it would be this…

And while I’m at it, why not pick up the star-print clutch…right? 🙂

As seen on Anna Dello Russo during “fashion month,” it’s truly a piece of art and a really great addition to your wardrobe…or my wardrobe 🙂
