Red Carpet Fashion: 2012 Golden Globes (Part 3)

This is the last Golden Globes red carpet fashion post (so I promise I’ll leave you alone…until the next awards show of course). Be sure to check out part 1 and part 2 if you haven’t already.

Let’s wrap things up now…

Red Carpet Fashion: 2012 Golden Globes (Part 2)

Are you caught up on part 1 of the Golden Globes red carpet fashion? Okay good. Because I’m just getting started. Still have plenty more dresses to judge!

Let’s move onto part 2…

Red Carpet Fashion: 2012 Golden Globes (Part 1)

Wow there were a lot of great celebrities at the Golden Globes tonight, right? You know what that means…LOTS of dresses to judge. There were quite a few trends on the red carpet including canary yellow, dark teal, blush tones (most of which were extremely unflattering by the way) and surprisingly…headbands. Were there any trends you were a big fan of?

While you ponder that question…here’s part 1 of the red carpet fashion from the 2012 Golden Globes.

Photobucket Jessica Alba in Gucci

Styled by the one and only Brad Goreski, I thought Jessica looked gorgeous in Gucci. Can you believe she just had a kid? I don’t know how celebs do it. They’re definitely magical creatures like that. Although the dress is a safe choice for the red carpet, you can’t deny that she looks amazing.

Photobucket Zooey Deschanel in custom Prada

This is just so hard for me to make a decision on. I love the idea of the dress and most of it is fantastic, however the lace around the neck and that awful hair is really throwing me off. Would love to get your opinion about this…

Photobucket Tina Fey in Oscar de la Renta

I’m always hoping Tina will wear something decent on the red carpet, and for her this is….fine. I don’t know whoever said ruching is flattering because I’ve always hated it, and combined with the ruffles here it’s just not her dress.

Photobucket Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackerman

You know those things that “fashion people get” but the general public just seems confused about? I’m usually one of the people who gets it, but when it comes to Tilda Swinton…I don’t.

Photobucket Stacy Keibler in Valentino

Such a safe choice, it almost bores me. But she’s so beautiful it just bores me a little.

Photobucket Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang

This is probably my favorite dress she’s ever worn on the red carpet. THIS is her silhouette and it’s definitely her color too. The texture at the bottom is amazing (and surprisingly photographs well) and this was obviously custom because it fits her absolutely perfectly.

Photobucket Shailene Woodley in Marchesa

Shailene, this is NOT your silhouette (mostly meaning strapless is not your friend).

Photobucket Sarah Michelle Gellar in Monique Lhuillier

Of ALL the dresses you have to choose from…THIS is what you go with. She said her kid picked it out for her (and clearly this child will not have a future in fashion) so hopefully she learns NEVER to listen to children again (at least when it comes to an outfit choice).

Photobucket Sarah Hyland in vintage Dolce & Gabbana

Was not loving the nude trend on the red carpet (mostly because it blended in with just about everyone’s skin tone) but in this case, Sarah does have a glow and it’s nice to have the black lace to break it up. She looks pretty but I’m not WOWed.

Photobucket Rooney Mara in Nina Ricci Pre-Fall 2012

She’s just been killing it on the red carpet lately so I really expected to be blown away. It’s definitely true to her style and she looks amazing, but I just hoped to see something a little more exciting.

Photobucket Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen

Love her. Not in love with the dress. Pretty forgettable…especially because it blends in with the carpet.

Photobucket Piper Perabo in Theyskens’ Theory Spring 2012

When I first saw this, I hated it. The more angles I looked at, the easier it was to come to this conclusion; great dress, wrong girl. I think she would have looked better in the original black version but this color isn’t her friend. And if she really wanted it to be her friend, she would have had some better accessories.

Photobucket Paula Patton in Monique Lhuillier

I do appreciate color on the red carpet, but this silhouette should never be made in this color yellow. It’s just a little too much (and that’s coming from me who lives by “more is more”).

Be looking out for part 2 coming tomorrow! And don’t forget to let me know your favorites of the night.

Red Carpet Fashion: 2011 Golden Globe Awards (Part 2)

Carrying on from my previous post.

[I promise there are more winners in this post…and by winners I mean best dressed]

Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace

I thought I was dreaming when I saw Angelina step on the Red Carpet in COLOR. I mean, this is truly a historical moment. Let’s all embrace this…and hope she continues to wear more color on the RC because she looks stunning in this emerald green. Go Angie!

Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive

Let me start off by saying you cannot go wrong with Armani Prive. You have to have a really terrible stylist to make Armani Prive look bad. Thankfully, Anne has a really awesome stylist (who happens to be Rachel Zoe) therefore this dress on this girl was fool-proof. Absolutely gorgeous. Perfection from head-to-toe. Best dressed of the night.

Christina Hendricks in Ramona Kaveza

I understand it is not easy to find a suitable dress for a woman with a large chest, but she makes the WORST choices when it comes to the red carpet. It’s like someone with linebacker shoulders wearing a halter top! I’m also not a fan of the red dress, with the red carpet AND the red hair. Plus the frizzy hair so close to the ruffled shoulder is all wrong.

Elisabeth Moss in Donna Karan

She tends to look angry and a bit frumpy on the Red Carpet but she really got this right. Although it was one of the many green dresses on the RC last night, Elisabeth really rocked this look. Love the detailing in the bodice, it’s a beautiful shade of green and she looks really happy and confident. Always a plus!

Hailee Steinfeld in Prabal Gurung

I had no idea who this was because I haven’t seen True Grit, nor do I care to see movies with such a drab color scheme, but I am definitely keeping this girl on my radar. Young girls often go too mature or too childish on the red carpet and her overall look was perfectly age appropriate. I also love me some Prabal on the RC 🙂

Jennifer Lawrence in Louis Vuitton

It wasn’t my favorite of the night but it works for her. She looks pretty. It’s nice to see some Louis Vuitton on the Red Carpet. But that’s about it.

Julianne Moore in Lanvin

Officially convinced Julianne’s goal is to be on the worst dressed list at every event. Well congrats Ms. Moore…you win! [for worst dressed of the night]

Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta

I would have hated this dress on anyone else but it totally works for her. The color and ruffles are youthful but the silhouette is sophisticated, so for a young woman like her it’s perfect. She always surprises us on the Red Carpet (which I love) so she gets an IN from me.

Leighton Meester in Burberry

Okay so I know a lot of people hated this but if you have seen Leighton’s previous Red Carpet choices, you should be bowing down to her for choosing this dress (trust me, it could have been much worse). I actually love this dress. I would definitely wear it. Love the slit. LOVE the bag. And I can’t wait for new episodes of Gossip Girl.

Olivia Wilde in Marchesa

First to arrive on the Red Carpet, and I couldn’t stop thinking about this dress throughout the night. A lot of people said it was too much. She’s a young, GORGEOUS, talented actress and she’s at a prestigious awards show in Beverly Hills…there is no such thing as too much. I am obsessed with this dress and I’m obsessed with Olivia in this dress.

PS. If you know where I can get Olivia’s gold spiked Christian Louboutin shoes, tell me…because I need them

Red Carpet Fashion: Best Dressed at the 2010 Golden Globes

Everyone has their own opinion of who was best and worst dressed of the night. Although there were some dresses that were not my favorite, I would rather write about my favorites…and I want to hear what you think too!

Here are my picks for the best dressed of the night at the 2010 Golden Globes. Note, this is in no particular order.

Kate Hudson in Marchesa:

It’s difficult to ever put a Marchesa gown on the worst dressed list. The color is simply white but the structure slightly complex with a sculptured look, like most Marchesa gowns. Kate totally rocked it (and she was styled by Rachel Zoe) which is why she made my best dressed list.

Zoe Saldana in Louis Vuitton:

People either loved this dress or they hated it. I, for one, am a lover of this Louis Vuitton masterpiece. I think the color looks great on her skin tone and she can actually pull off a strapless dress with her body type, unlike a few Golden Globes attendees that will remain nameless. [Girls, if your boobs are bigger than a D, please don’t wear strapless things. Thank you.] Anyways, I love the ruffles and textures of this amazing Louis Vuitton gown, which is why it makes my best dressed list.

Jennifer Garner in Atelier Versace:

My jaw dropped when I saw Jennifer Garner walk down the red carpet. This dress is absolutely stunning. It fits her perfectly and she looks gorgeous wearing it. I love the asymmetry in the front and I wish I had a picture of the back because it was my favorite part of the dress. I can’t find one online so if anyone does find a picture of the back of this fabulous dress, please let me know. I love Jen Garner, she’s one of Rachel Zoe’s clients, and she totally rocked this Atelier Versace gown…this is why she’s on my best dressed list.

Olivia Wilde in Gucci:

Another jaw-dropping gown. Olivia Wilde is already gorgeous with her dark hair and piercing blue eyes, but throw on this sparkling Gucci dress with a plunging neckline and you have perfection. The best part about this dress is that after the Golden Globes, she is auctioning it off and all of the money will go directly to helping Haiti. Stunning dress, beautiful woman, and a philanthropist? This is why Olivia wilde made my best dressed list.

Lea Michele in Oscar de la Renta:

Let’s just say I’m a little biased because Glee is one of the greatest shows on television 🙂 but Lea Michele really took a risk by wearing this Cinderella-like gown and she totally rocked it. It wasn’t too over the top because it was all black, the sweetheart necklace corset top fit her perfectly, and the feather-like bottom detail is so beautiful. I love anything Oscar de la Renta does, I think Lea Michele is great, and Glee is awesome…which is why Lea made my best dressed list.

So ladies [and gentlemen if you read this], what do you think? Do you agree with my picks? Who were your favorites? Least favorites? I want to know. Leave me your twitter name and I will retweet your responses!
