When It Rains, It Pours

I don’t know about you but I’m growing quite sick of these grey rainy days. But when it’s spring time in Chicago, what do you expect? Actual spring weather with flowers blooming and people frolicking in the streets? We get that maybe a few days each spring…the lucky 48 hours of 70s and sun we might get to experience. But right now I’m staring out my window, wondering what I’m going to sacrifice today (meaning allow to get wet)…which inspired me to write today’s post.

Downpour Chic

Due to my extreme frustration with the recent weather (can anyone in Chicago remember the last day we did NOT have rain? I didn’t think so), I thought I’d channel this into something helpful. When it rains, we all seem to either give up on how we look or just ruin our outfits. Neither one is fun so I’m going to turn something bad (daily storms that occur when you least expect it so you better have an umbrella at ALL times) into something good (an excuse to go shopping).

The Perfect Winter Combination

I admit, for many years (6 to be exact) Uggs were my go-to winter boots. Yes, I know you may be thinking to yourself “and she calls herself a fashion expert?” We all make fashion mistakes and I apologize for this one. Hey at least I’m honest, right?

Although that nice shearling interior might seem cozy, when you’re trekking through snow and slush these boots are bound to get soaked…which they did…leaving my feet cold, wet and sad. So why did I continue to buy them for so many years? This question remains unanswered.

In Chicago, we’re all about practicality when it comes to fashion but I think this is a combination everyone can benefit from (except if you’re in LA, then you can continue wearing your flip flops in December and we’ll all hate you for it).
