Bibhu Mohapatra SS13: Inspired By The Luna Moth

The Spring 2013 collection acknowledges the prophetic symbolism of the luna moth to celebrate the evolution and transformation of an ever-intiuitive Bibhu woman.

This is what Bibhu Mohapatra described as his inspiration for Spring ’13, included on the handouts at the show Wednesday morning. The first thing I did when I got home…Google luna moth.

Althea Harper Spring 2012

One of my favorite Project Runway contestants to date, Althea Harper showed her Spring 2012 collection this year at fashion week. She decided to do a show this year, as opposed to a presentation like I attended last September.

Althea designs clothing that’s fun to wear but never too over-the-top. She showed a lot of black and white looks along with some grey body-con pieces, and a really beautiful print seen in various garments throughout the collection. This season, Althea had some great separates (including her amazing blazers…which I’m happy to say I own one from last year) that are very easy to incorporate into your wardrobe, along with various types of dresses from fitted cocktail to long flowy maxis. My favorite is the black sheer finale dress…stunning dressed up or down.

What I’m Coveting For Spring 2011

The Spring ’11 collections were some of the best Spring collections I’ve seen in a while. The designers really embraced color now more than ever and no one appreciates color more than I do. I just can’t help but smile when I see a collection full of fun colors! With that said, there have been SO many items for Spring that I have been obsessing over. I have already picked up some of my favorites including the Proenza Shoulder rope bracelet, the green PS11, Missoni sunhat and the Prada Baroque sunglasses to name a few…but with any fashion obsessed girl, there’s always room for more!

Here are my current Spring obsessions (that I have yet to obtain)…

Proenza Schouler Perforated lizard-effect leather pumps: I’m obviously starting off with a Proenza piece. Although I’m in love with the entire Spring ’11 collection, there’s something about these shoes I’m just drawn to. I don’t normally like a pointed toe but I love how it’s perforated and the way the neutral colors are mixed is unique yet practical.

Missoni Crochet-Knit cross-back top: Choosing one piece from the Missoni Spring collection is just as difficult as the Proenza collection. The colors from Missoni Spring ’11 are brilliant, especially in this top. Combining blues, purples and greens are my favorite colors to wear so I’m immediately drawn to this. I’ve really been into high waisted pants and shorts lately so this cropped top would work perfectly into my wardrobe.

Miu Miu Appliqued metallic leather clutch: There’s something about the “starbursts” seen throughout the Miu Miu Spring ’11 collection that just intrigues me. It’s an unexpected burst of fun to add to your wardrobe. Although I loved it combined with neon yellow in the dresses and tops, I would get so much use out of this clutch!

Lanvin Swarovski-pin embellished straw hat: Although I love my Missoni hat, it is a little…out there. As far as an everyday sunhat, I love this one by Lanvin. It’s super floppy and the Swarovski pin is totally random…which is always a good thing in my book.

Stella McCartney Citrus-print silk-satin dress: I am really feeling the fruit this season. It’s so ridiculous that I just can’t get enough of it. The silhouette of this dress is so easy to wear and the print is PERFECT for Spring/Summer. This dress makes me smile :)

Chi City Closet: Fendi Spring 2011 Platform Sandals

Platforms are one of the biggest trends for Spring 2011. When I first saw them on the runway, I wasn’t exactly sure how I felt about them. Then I saw the Fendi Spring 2011 runway platform sandals up close this past weekend, and I really fell in love.

The moment I tried them on, I knew I had to have them…so now they are part of my Chi City Closet :)

So with that said, Spring needs to come ASAP. My Spring shoe collection is growing fast and I am getting antsy to wear them!

Ted Baker Introduces Spring/Summer 2011 Collection to Chicago

Ted Baker unveiled his first Midwest location at 1009 North Rush Street less than 2 months ago. I was very excited for this store to open because whenever I am in LA I always visit the Ted Baker store on Robertson, and I always pick up some new cool pieces that I can’t find anywhere else.

The new Chicago store highlights the best of English design elements while catering to our city’s ever-changing climate…which I can always appreciate when it comes to Chicago retail stores!

The Spring/Summer 2011 womenswear collection is simple with soft draped silhouettes yet playful with intricate, abstract prints. The menswear collection brings a softer and relaxed edge to traditional tailored looks by featuring offbeat color combinations, vibrant prints, and beautiful textures.

Take a look at some of the looks from Ted Baker Spring/Summer 2011…

For more information visit www.tedbaker.com and if you’re in Chicago, stop by the new location at 1009 North Rush.
