The Thanksgiving Stretch

Happy Thanksgiving, friends! Today’s the day where we OD on turkey (or tofurky if you swing that way), wear pants that either stretch, are two sizes too big or if you’re really lucky…no pants at all. So if you’re trying to figure out what to wear for today’s gorging festivities, I have a few suggestions I think you’ll be really happy about.

Now I’ve never done a super fancy Thanksgiving. My family, like myself, is all about being casual and comfortable. If you do Turkey Day the same way, then try the no-fail formula: stretch/drawstring pants + oversized sweater + oversized coat. It’s like the easiest math problem ever (and if you live in LA, subtract the coat). If you do some sort of skinny pant with stretch, you’re good to go for all things big up top. Although I didn’t wear this to Thanksgiving last year, it’s the perfect example of what I’m talking about. You know I’m all about balance and proportion, so if you do drawstring pants that are a little baggier, you don’t have to wear a super-fitted top or sweater, but just something not as big as this or this. Because we’re about to gain 3 lbs in one sitting, and that’s no fun in stiff low rise jeans and a bodysuit. Get what I’m sayin’?

Of course this day is supposed to be about giving thanks, but it ends up being a competition with yourself to see how much food you can consume in one sitting…and going on a juice cleanse the next week (come on, I can’t be the only one). Although I have a lot to be thankful for…like this guy (and this vacay), these guys, this site, that site, and of course these folks…but really, I’m thankful for days like today where I can truly feast, drink a ton of red wine, and not feel bad about it for one second (until Black Friday…)

Speaking of Black Friday, if you’re looking to hit up some sales from the comfort of your own home (and not wait in line for Best Buy at 3am) then you don’t want to miss out on these. Some are just for Friday, others for only Monday but many go through the entire weekend. So don’t miss out!

And if you still need more “Thanksgiving fashion” inspiration, here’s some stretchy/oversized things to get you through the day. Some will probably be on sale this weekend so you can always stock up for even more feasting next month.
