In the midst of fashion week madness, it’s nice to take a break from talking about shows and who was front row at what. Because we all know Anna Wintour is front row at everything, but regardless of that…I found out today that she’s actually sort of hilarious. And what’s a better hump day treat than ANNA BEING FUNNY?!
Nothing. That’s what.
Because Anna rarely smiles for photos, we think of her as this cold person who wouldn’t even show as much as a smirk when reading something like 17 Dogs Who Suffer From Resting Bacon Face. But after getting to know Anna in 73 questions and in under six minutes (quite efficient, actually), I learned a lot about her and we actually have a lot in common (maybe I could be Anna’s new Grace? Okay, baby steps…) Like she considers home the best vacation spot, spring is her favorite season (while every other fashion person would say fall…dare to be different, Anna!), she’d never wear head-to-toe black, and my absolute favorite — the first thing she notices about someone? [Ironically] their smile.
And you that photo of her that went viral where she’s using a flip phone at the US Open? Well that’s not [what I like to call] her Breaking Bad phone — it’s her actual everyday cell phone. But when asked the question “what’s the greatest technology of all time?” she responds with “anything by Apple.” Anna, your irony kills me (in the best way possible).
She’s also sick of everyone using the word “journey” to describe something fashion-related (funny, because I can think of way worse words that fashion people should stop using, but I totally appreciate the answer). The biggest difference between Americans and Brits is humor (but Anna…you’re funny in BOTH countries). And apparently Brooklyn is the New Silicon Valley…I guess you learn something new everyday!
Don’t you feel like you just really know her now? I mean, we could never actually be friends because I send way too many pictures of my dogs to my friends which she’d never receive on a flip phone (yes, that is there reason our friendship could never work). But I do have a few more questions (could we up it to 77?) like — How many pairs of sunglasses do you actually own? And do you just wear the same pair everyday? If someone were to play you in a movie, would you still choose Meryl Streep? Lastly, do you realize you’re missing out on millions of Instagram followers by still carrying a flip phone? Just a few thoughts…
What would you ask Anna? Don’t hold back now.
