From sunny 70s everyday and now back to good old Chicago winters, LA was real. Of course these photos were taken the one day it rained when I was there (and maybe one of five days it rains all year) but it fit that whole black / white / grey motif my outfit was going for anyway…and happened to match this fantastic street art. So here’s a day in DTLA (or Downtown LA, if you’re not familiar).
Shall we address the elephant in the room?
WHAT (am I wearing):
Jacket: The Row. Pants: Won Hundred. Shoes: Jil Sander. Bag: M2MALLETIER. Earring: Alison Lou x The Webster. Necklaces: A/M. Shay. Rings: Nolan. Ellie Jay. Sunglasses: Prism.
WHY (am I wearing it):
Is this the ideal outfit for walking around downtown LA in the rain? Probably not. Is this what one should wear while running across the street at 2:28 with hopes of making it to Marugame Monzo for uni udon before they close at 2:30? No…because after wiping out in the middle of the road due to tripping on these pants, I learned the answer is definitely no. Not the ideal outfit. BUT we all learn from our mistakes right? And I have a huge bruise on the side of my leg that looks like a laughing emoji (how ironic) to prove it. Anyway, enough about my injuries. More about the outfit. I got these pants in Australia last year and they were a little out there for me (as I’ve never owned pants this wide, especially with stripes) but considering I like to eat a lot, it’s good to know I have room to expand when necessary. Because the pants are so wide, I had to go for a more fitted t-shirt. With the weather not being the typical amazing 75 degrees LA normally sees, a jacket was a must. And having this more streamlined leather jacket (as opposed to a boxier moto) is what these pants really need. You know I hate heels and these Jil Sander loafer boots are my go-to for a heel/loafer compromise. Top it off with some new accessories (Alison Lou via The Webster and Nolan via Satine) and there you have it. A black and white look. On top of a black and white backdrop, with a grey elephant to balance it all out. It’s DTLA…and I’m all about it.
