Isabel Marant x H&M, 3.1 Phillip Lim x Target, and NFL x Bloomingdales? Yes, you heard that right. I guess fashion cares about sports now (beyond trendy jerseys and sneakers).
I never thought SS12’s athletic trend would eventually come to this, but sure enough…the NFL has teamed up with Bloomingdales and the CFDA to create 48 “haute couture” helmets by their designer members (like Marchesa, DVF and Betsey Johnson to name a few). Now you’re probably thinking this is just way too random but considering the Superbowl is in New Jersey this year (which is basically New York, even something New Yorkers can admit), the fashion industry is clearly on board.
Now those NFL ads in the magazines a few months back are starting to make more sense…
Even Marie Claire‘s “The Savvy Girl’s Guide To Football” headline from their September issue proves that either fashion people are starting to care about sports or the NFL is a big money-maker and the fashion industry wants in. Either way, the world I totally get and the one I do not understand at all are newly BFFs and I’m not sure how I feel about it (although that bejeweled DANNIJO helmet is pretty badass).
Here’s a look at some of the other helmets that will be auctioned off online January 15 with the proceeds benefiting the NFL Foundation.

Will you be bidding on these helmets? What are your thoughts on this collaboration (and not just the Bloomingdales x CFDA x NFL collab — fashion x sports in general)?

Marchesa’s and Nicole Miller’s are really beautiful but… whaaat? I’m a huge fan of mixing sport into fashion but that’s a lot to take 🙂 I’m gonna make some popcorn and wait for more!
