Red Carpet Fashion: 2012 Emmys (Part 1)

The first major awards show of the season, the Emmys, were last night. The red carpet was full of bordeux, yellow, some shamefull beaded turquoise numbers and a pleasantly surprising influx of J. Mendel.

Like I tweeted last night, I feel like with the rise of social media, the increasing popularity of red carpet coverage along with things like Fashion Police, celebrities are less willing to take a risk when it comes to these events. You would think it might have the opposite effect but let’s be honest…no one wants to be bashed on national television. So, gone are the days of Bjork’s swan dress and JLo’s extreme low cut Versace caftan….it looks like a red carpet full of ruching, jewel tones and strapless gowns is in our future for the long haul.

Now that my rant is out of the way (thanks for listening), let’s get to the judging.

Sick of New York Fashion Week yet? I’m sure you are, but let’s pretend like you’re not.

I hope you’ve been enjoying my NYFW posts, covering some of the Spring 2013 shows I attended in New York. Here’s a look at some highlights of the rest of the shows I attended while I was there.

Clover Canyon Spring 2013: On The Road

This isn’t Clover Canyon’s first rodeo on ChiCityFashion (I was currently obsessing over the brand in August…and that obsession has not gone away).

Clover Canyon’s innovative prints are something that will always be a part of their designs…but did you ever think of wearing clothes with pictures of motel rooms, an open road, surf shacks, or cannabis leaves?

Bibhu Mohapatra SS13: Inspired By The Luna Moth

The Spring 2013 collection acknowledges the prophetic symbolism of the luna moth to celebrate the evolution and transformation of an ever-intiuitive Bibhu woman.

This is what Bibhu Mohapatra described as his inspiration for Spring ’13, included on the handouts at the show Wednesday morning. The first thing I did when I got home…Google luna moth.
