If you’re going to tune in to one awards show all season and watch just one red carpet…THIS is the one. But if you didn’t, thankfully you have me.
The Oscars were last night and the red carpet was the best I’ve seen all season. I’m not saying everyone got it right but I wasn’t totally bored…and that says a lot. We saw a lot of strapless and one-shoulder gowns (which to be honest I’m not a huge fan of either, but they weren’t all terrible), of course the neutral beaded gowns which are expected at the Oscars, but the biggest trend was white. Not an easy thing to pull off but let’s see who got it right and who missed the mark on the red carpet…

I’m normally not one to support celebrities that have gone designer, but Whitney Port is one of the few doing it right. Her contemporary label, Whitney Eve, has all the elements young girls want to wear. For Fall 2012, she incorporated florals, textured knits, mixed prints and velvet. The silhouettes are feminine, playful and easy to wear which fits perfectly with the day-to-night aesthetic of these looks.
I was standing very close to where Kelly Cutrone herself was calling the show, this was a Peoples Revolution productions of course, and it was cool to see her in action (I’m a big KC fan). A remix of Beyonce’s “Run The World (Girls)” started the show, which was probably some of the most exciting music I heard at any of the Fall 2012 shows. So already I was very pumped to see the clothes.
When it comes to business and design, Whitney seems to know what she’s doing and knows her target market. These are definitely clothes she would wear herself and translate very well for everyday. Here are some of the key looks from Whitney Eve Fall 2012…
While in New York for Fashion Week, I attended the Lia Sophia Social Suite to preview their latest jewelry selection, including the debut of the Zingara Red Carpet collection designed by Nylon’s Style Editor-at-Large, Dani Stahl.
Both collections have statement-making jewelry and also some smaller pieces that are great for layering. My absolute favorite was this necklace that came in a few different colors (but purple’s my favorite!) and thanks to the lovely Lia Sophia team, I got to take it home with me…
Here’s some of the Lia Sophia jewelry you can look forward to seeing next season…
Yes, those are all bracelets!
