Lela Rose Fall 2012

Centered around the fusion of structure and movement, Lela Rose Fall 2012 was inspired by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. His focus on romanticism and functionality was seen in Lela’s linear organza, floral embroideries and carbonized silk. Prominent colors in the collection include rust, amber, dark bronze and silver…which I thought were all unique color combinations that actually worked really well in one collection.

An accidental focus led to this photo of Neiman Marcus’s Ken Downing, Shay Mitchell and Brad Goreski in the front row!

With all the events and shows I attend during fashion week, the whole swag bag thing can be overrated. However, with something as personal (and delicious) as this, I couldn’t help but love Lela Rose even more!

Tibi Fall 2012: The 3 M’s

Menswear-inspired. Monochromatic. Minimalist. The best way to sum up Tibi Fall 2012. The collection consists of neutrals in mostly grey and cream while the colors used seem to be an emerging trend for Fall ’12–burgundy and dark green. Patterns seen throughout include a black and cream square print, dark green plaid and a quirky bird print (which I loved).

Overall I was a huge fan of this collection. When you look at the pieces individually, they’re very wearable and easy to incorporate into any wardrobe. My absolute favorite look was the all green sparkling monochromatic outfit. Not sure if I personally would wear it but I LOVED it on the runway. And it was pretty cool to see 2 of my favorite models, Lindsey Wixson and Heidi Mount, walk in the show!

Christian Siriano Fall 2012

One of my favorite shows I’ve attended so far, Christian Siriano Fall 2012 really blew me away. He’s known for his evening dresses but he KILLED IT with leather jackets this season. I loved the progression of looks from all white (which looked amazing with the contrast of those dark lips) to a grey static print, with a few fur pieces here and there, then burgundy and finishing with lots of black. What I love about Christian is that he does black very well. If you know me at all, black totally isn’t my thing…but with the silhouettes, textures and techniques he uses it’s all so beautiful and interesting.

Christian was inspired by bats for this collection, specifically the ’30s film “The Vampire Bat.” He was really intrigued by their dark and dramatic presence along with the “intricate details of their veins and the bone structure of their wings.”

Red Carpet Fashion: 2012 Grammys

Interrupting New York Fashion Week for a red carpet fashion feature! I apologize for not live tweeting the Grammys last night, but I’m in NYC and staying at my hotel watching TV just wasn’t going to happen. BUT I decided to throw in a little red carpet fashion post in the midst of all this fashion week madness. Hope you enjoy!

Although the looks at this particular awards show are always just a tacky mess,  here are those worth discussing…

Herve Leger Fall 2012: Not Just a Bandage Dress

When most people think of Herve Leger, they think of the bandage dress. Why wouldn’t you? It’s what they’re known for, right? Well season after season, the perception is challenged and with Fall 2012 full of an array of silhouettes, it’s clear that Herve Leger is not just a bandage dress.

This collection was mostly in the neutral family with black, grey and brown but the various shades, textures and prints is what really made it unique. To [successfully] do a fully neutral collection, it better be interesting. And this was definitely interesting. From the black harnesses to the fur accents, those extreme gladiator boots and everything in between…your eye can’t help but be drawn to these looks.

Wasn’t having much camera luck at this one but I did happen to snap this photo which I was particularly proud of…
