Chicago Event: Fashion Forward

Tonight, the Mayor’s Fashion Council of Chicago is hosting an event to discuss the importance of technology in fashion. As a fashion blogger, especially in Chicago, I find this event to be extremely important and I’m really looking forward to this discussion.

Can’t make the event? You can join the conversation on Twitter by using the #FashionForward hashtag. Who knew technology could be so fashionable?

Dana Rebecca Designs 2011 Collection Trunk Show

This weekend I attended [what had to have been] the most fabulous trunk show ever. Located in a luxurious suite at the Park Hyatt (with a stunning view I might add), women with fabulous taste gathered to browse the 2011 collection from Dana Rebecca Designs (as previewed here).

I was in love with what I previewed but seeing it in real life definitely tops it. Her collection is full of bright colors and unique shapes that will just blow you away. Dana’s jewelry includes a wide range of styles, from dainty everyday pieces (like her famous Lauren Joy necklaces) to extravagant earrings that make you feel like you’re on the red carpet. An afternoon playing with the most amazing jewelry surrounded by great people and delicious treats (see below for treat details)…needless to say, it was a wonderful afternoon.

Now that we’ve covered the snack spread, let’s move onto the jewelry…shall we?

Don't you just want everything?

Best Dressed: The Love Ball 2011

Last night was Natalia Vodianova’s annual Love Ball that took place at Valentino Garavani’s Château de Wideville. Every year since 2005, the supermodel has brought together the most famous designers and celebrities for a large charity event in favor of the Naked Heart Foundation, an association that helps underprivileged children in Russia.

This year’s theme? The white fairy tale. Gorgeous fashion and equally gorgeous people…all gathering for a great cause. This definitely calls for a best dressed post!

PhotobucketOlivia Palermo

That dress is like liquid on her…it’s absolutely stunning. But my favorite part? That bag! Anything that sparkles with feathers is okay fabulous in my book.

PhotobucketMargherita Missoni

At the most formal events, I seem to find Margherita wearing a belt (which tends to make things more casual) yet she always looks perfectly appropriate for the occasion..and it works for her. I LOVE this dress. Ruffles, metallics and Missoni…sounds like the complete package.

PhotobucketDaphne Guinness

Daphne can wear anything and everything…and she’ll always be fierce. Who else could pull off a rainbow Alexander McQueen caftan gown with an extraordinary headpiece? [hopefully me one day]

PhotobucketCaroline Sieber

This outfit is definitely different than most of the crowd, but I appreciate that. Although this looks like a combination of a blouse, leather shorts and a corset, it just works here. Oh and that Louis Vuitton Monogram Nova Minaudiere bag is one of my favorite things Louis Vuitton has ever produced. [note: I’m a sucker for tassels]

PhotobucketAnna Dello Russo

A best dressed post at a fashion event would not be complete without some ADR. Looking stunning in a Roberto Cavalli gown, I imagine this is what she’d look like at her wedding (except with a custom fruit headpiece instead of the flowers). As always, I live for Anna Dello Russo.

Havaianas Beach Pop-Up Event

Early this week I posted about the “Make Your Own Havaianas” Beach Pop-Up event I was hosting. If you didn’t get the chance to attend, there’s still a chance for you to make your own Havaianas. The pop-up will be at North Avenue beach through July 31 and will be open Thursdays through Sundays from 11am to 7pm.

I made these.

I would love to see what you come up with!

Despite the weather, it was a really fun event. I got to hang out with my fellow Style Tribe members, host with my talented friend Amy Creyer of Chicago Street Style, and I wore my new Proenza Schouler SS ’11 dress with my Missoni x Havaianas flip flops…what more could I ask for?

Click below to check out my photos from the event…taken with my brand new [big girl] camera!
