Ever see a collection and wonder where it all began? The inspiration? The sketches? If not, it is something to think about. It’s funny when you actually get to hear or see some of the inspiration, you would have never guessed it had anything to do with the collection. Other times, it makes perfect sense. So today, with it being day one of NYFW, we’re going to look at some designers and what inspired their Fall 2015 collections you’ll be seeing this fashion month.
Jewelry, RedeFINEd
When it comes to jewelry, do you go for costume or fine? Or perhaps mix it up? I’d say a majority like to keep it mixed, which is exactly why designers are starting to dabble in both categories. So now if you want a $150 bracelet or a $1,500 bracelet…you can get it from the same designer! HALLELUJAH!
The New Classic
Balenciaga City. Givenchy Nightingale. Proenza Schouler PS1. Chanel 2.55. What do these all have in common? They’re classic handbags, signature to their designer. But fashion seems to be moving in this direction where we don’t necessarily need a big designer name attached to our bag to make the investment. The perfect example of this is what I like to call the new classic — M2MALLETIER.
Animal Instincts
It’s cold, it’s holiday season and I’ve seen the sun maybe once in the last week…so with all this going on, we can use a little pick-me-up. So why not kick off your weekend with some cute animals that make fashion ad campaigns and lookbooks so much better? Like a sloth with some Mansur Gavriel bags, for example…
Alexander Wang Heats Up
Besides killing it with his H&M collection, Alexander Wang is heating things up…but not in a way you might expect.
