Velvet Obsessions For Fall 2011

Velvet has been a trend that has stayed the last few Fall seasons. It’s never been a favorite of mine, but after my Topshop leggings purchase this past weekend, I’ve decided to reconsider.

Check out my velvet obsessions for Fall 2011…

And as George Costanza would say…”I would drape myself in velvet if it were socially acceptable.” And if you’re not a Seinfeld fan, then I’ll leave you with a moment of confusion at the end of this blog post. Have a great weekend!

Exorcise Your Fashion Fears at Cynthia Rowley

Mark your calendars for this Friday and “exorcise your fashion fears” at Cynthia Rowley! Amy Creyer of Chicago Street Style is hosting a fashionable Halloween-inspired get together at the Cynthia Rowley store in Bucktown. Shop exclusive discounts while indulging on Vosges chocolate (my favorite!) this Friday from 6:30-8:30pm.

Chi City Closet: Louis Vuitton Lockit Clutch

Ever since I saw the Louis Vuitton Lockit Clutch on the Fall 2011 runway, I knew I had to have this piece.

I was disappointed when I found out this was not available online and there was an immediate waitlist. Whenever I see a runway piece I can’t stop thinking about, I do whatever I can to get it. I was wait listed at several Louis Vuitton stores and never got a call. After visiting my parents in the burbs last weekend my mom told me she had a surprise for me and the first thing I noticed was a Louis Vuitton box. Clearly my runway stalking has rubbed off on my mom…

I am now the proud owner of the Louis Vuitton Fall ’11 Lockit clutch! This is by far one of the coolest bags I own. I haven’t worn this out yet (so here’s your sneak peak!) but I cannot wait to wear it.

Chi City Closet: Elizabeth & James Fur Poncho

One of my favorite new purchases, this Elizabeth & James fur poncho has already been my go-to this season. Although it’s only Fall, Chicago seems to have just 2 seasons (frigid and humid) so for me, fur is 100% appropriate at this time.

You may recognize this from My Favorite Capes & Ponchos For Fall/Winter 2011 and yes…I took my own advice and went for it.  I’m so glad I did! This is by far my most comfortable piece of outerwear and I absolutely love the 70s vibe.

So, what do you think? What’s your go to piece so far for Fall?

I’ve already shared with you my favorite Fall/Winter coats for 2011 and I wanted to dedicate a post to an accessory that can be forgotten about but definitely deserves some attention…gloves! See my favorite gloves (that I hope you’ll love too!) and where you can get them.
