Missoni Accessories, Wrap Bracelets & Laura Mercier Beauty

There’s such a variety of sales happening this week on Gilt, you do not want to miss out. From accessories and luggage to wardrobe essentials and beauty, there is something for everyone. I picked my top five to share with you. I hope you enjoy them as much as I will!

American Apparel (3/22)–This street-chic megabrand continues its winning formula of adding attitude to simple basics. Lightweight jersey tops, sheer tanks, leggings, and dresses beg to be mixed and matched, dressed up and down, and played with in a hundred different ways. These wardrobe staples are key for any season.

Missoni Accessories (3/22)–Missoni’s eye-popping patterns never fail to make a big style impact…which is why the brand has been one of my favorites to wear for years. Pick up some knit scarves, ponchos, and hats in Missoni’s signature multicolor zigzags and stripes. Everyone can use a little Missoni 🙂

Chan Luu Jewelry (3/23)– It’s the accessories that can take even the most basic outfits to the next level, and Chan Luu’s jewelry does just that. Add a distinctly free-spirited touch to your getup with these multi-pendant necklaces and multi-row wrap bracelets crafted from beads and leather. I like to wear at least two at a time for a subtle statement. And with Gilt’s amazing prices, it’s easy!

Laura Mercier (3/23)– These color palettes for lips and eyes are blended into just-right shades, while dual-use pots deliver luminous, subtle highlights and mineral powders deliver a flawless finish. Also on offer, travel skincare treatments and brush sets that can get you ready for your close-up anywhere and anytime. And my favorite? Candles and bath sets scented with coconut milk and almond to complete the Laura Mercier luxury experience.

Accessories Final Sale (3/25)– Vibrant colors and bold silhouettes are at the heart of this selection of pumps, sandals, and boots. Look for zipper details, beading, thigh-high suede, and plenty of rich hues, from purple snakeskin to color-blocked patent leather. You know what final sale means? Up to 70% off! So don’t miss out.

Chi City Closet: Rachel Leigh Bracelet

I have to admit, I’ve been a little Gilt obsessed lately. A dress, some jewelry and a clutch later, I subconsciously ordered a whole new outfit (no complaints here though!)

Anyway, one of my favorite (yet simplest) things I bought was this Rachel Leigh bracelet. I love the color and texture of it, and it’s a perfect layering piece with my watch or other bangle bracelets.

Love the little note that comes with my Gilt purchases 🙂

The best part is…I got a great deal on this bracelet (plus the other items I ordered) on Gilt. So here is your exclusive invitation to join…Become a member now!

Hermes Festival of Crafts

On Sunday I went to the Hermes Festival of Crafts next to the Hermes store on Oak Street. It was honestly one of the coolest things I’ve ever been to. It’s even cooler that Chicago is one of THREE of cities to hold one of these exhibits. This is the first EVER Festival of Crafts and I am so happy I was able to experience it.

If you haven’t seen it yet, you need to go. Skip school, skip work, book the next flight out to Chicago…whatever you have to do, you must see this. Getting a demonstration of how Hermes bags, scarves, watches, saddles, ties and dress shirts are made is amazing. They’ve been hand making everything since 1837 and it’s beyond impressive that they have kept that up for so long.

Today is the last day so head to 25 E. Oak Street any time from 10am to 6pm. I hope you can make it!

Here are a few photos I took (via iPhone) from the event…

Shop In Chicago: Thread Lounge

I’m all about supporting local boutiques in Chicago and I’m even more thrilled to support those that are doing something different. Lincoln Park’s Thread Lounge is not your ordinary designer boutique and a must-visit destination in Chicago.

Thread Lounge Designer Sample Sales is a concept by Colleen Schmidt, who spent years in the high-end loungewear and sleepwear industry. After she realized the market was becoming saturated with this kind of fashion, she knew she had to do something different. This is when Thread Lounge was born…

Colleen created a sample sale that travels the country and sells merchandise at a quarter of the retail price. This resulted in 2 great things…1) being able to serve her customers desires to have high-end clothing at a fraction of the cost, and 2) support small independent designers with selling their samples and excess stock.

With 300 lines in the ‘shops,’ there is something for everyone. It’s great to have a boutique that carries known designers as well as smaller independent designers as well…gives you the brands you love while exposing you to new designs at the same time.

Some designers Thread Lounge carries that you may recognize include James Jeans, Rag & Bone, Theory, and Tory Burch. Looking to try a new brand? Try Raj, Signum, Vintage Revolution, or Yanuk.

Visit Thread Lounge in Lincoln Park at 918 W. Armitage and visit www.threadlounge.com for more information.
