Prabal Gurung’s First Ever Online Only Ads

One of my favorite designers, Prabal Gurung, released his first ever online only ads yesterday. I thought this was such a great concept to only release certain photos for online advertising and I’m really looking forward to seeing more innovative ideas like this with Prabal and in the fashion industry as a whole.

Check out the images from Prabal Gurung’s first ever Fall 2011 digital ad campaign.

I’m going to be honest, it takes a lot for me to really love an ad campaign. We see so many online, in magazines, etc and it can be very redundant. However, this literally gave me chills when I looked through these images. It really brings a whole new level of power to these clothes and this truly blew me away.

What do you think of Prabal’s first ever online ads?

Thread Lounge & LaundryMagazine present West by Midwest

This Friday June 24, LaundryMagazine and Thread Lounge invite you to celebrate West Coast fashion in Chicago. In honor of the return of San Francisco based Thread Lounge owner Colleen Schmidt, Friday’s West by Midwest festivities will showcase the fashion sense influenced by these two cities.

Models will be wearing designs provided by Thread Lounge, styled by LaundryMagazine’s Fashion Director Kyle Spicer and Features Editor Samm Mackin. There will also be a new art display by Jon Vohr.

So head over to Thread Lounge (918 W. Armitage) from 6-9pm this Friday for an evening of style, design, and shopping (and of course drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and discounts).

See official event page for more information.

What Blake shared with Glamour in her chat with Florence Welch:

Blake Lively on Twitter…
“People ask me why I don’t tweet. Honestly, I’m so sick of myself.”

Blake Lively on becoming the new face of Chanel’s Mademoiselle handbag…
“It’s such an honor. When I found out I got [the job], you and I went to dinner and concocted this plan, like two little girls at a tea party, saying, ‘Oh, it would be the best if we had a party. And you’ll perform, and we’ll do it in Paris.’ Like you and I were in charge of Chanel!”

Blake Lively on being her own stylist…
“I think I became my own stylist by not knowing any better. And once I was told it was time to get one, I thought: This is one of my favorite hobbies! And I’m going to pay someone to steal my hobby from me? That’s a terrible idea!”

Blake Lively on getting ready for an event…
“I like it to be easy. I don’t feel like I have to do so much with hair and makeup, because I’m the mannequin for these beautiful clothes, so I never want to do anything too distracting. Most of the time, I put my hair in a ballerina bun, and I take it down and it’s wavy, and then I leave. I feel shy when people are fussing on me. And my diet of choice before events is a chicken potpie from Tea & Sympathy, because they never have enough food at these things.”

Blake Lively on breakups…
“Every relationship you have, you’re learning and growing and taking something from that. So for me, it’s never been too dramatic of a thing when something ends.”

You’re sick of yourself, Blake? Really? Well I’m not sick of you. We still have a new season of Gossip Girl to look forward to 🙂

The July issue of Glamour will be available nationwide on June 7.

Growing Works 2011

I posted about the highly anticipated event Laundry Magazine’s Growing Works about 3 weeks ago, and the time has finally come. On Tuesday night I attended the Growing Works show at the gorgeous Garfield Park Conservatory. This was my first time at this venue and it’s the perfect space to host a fashion show. I know this event has been in the works (no pun intended) for quite some time…and it definitely paid off. It’s so great to provide an event for local young talent to showcase their designs and what better company to host this event than Laundry Magazine? Be sure to check out the full list of designers and their profiles from the show.
