Must-Have Basics by ANAMA

Miami-based label, ANAMA, recently released a collection of luxurious basics using the latest in Lenzing Modal fabric technology. ANAMA’s basic collection is made of an all-natural cellulose fiber, which allows the textiles to become soft and supple. I love these basics because they’re very wearable, yet unique and stylish, and that’s not easy to find when it comes to basics.

Having showrooms in Miami, New York and Los Angeles, ANAMA has a large following, especially with celebrities like Penelope Cruz and Halle Berry. Releasing this line of basics will definitely continue to increase the brand’s ever-growing popularity. Who doesn’t love great basics?

The best part is…you don’t have to break the bank! All items are under $100 and can be found at Fred Segal, Bloomingdales and Macy’s.

There’s an App for that…

There are thousands of apps out there (for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, etc.) and it can be quite difficult to keep up with the best ones. Thankfully, I’ve compiled a list of the top FASHION APPS that EVERY “i-something-user” (with a remote interest in fashion) should have. And don’t fret…they’re all free 🙂

Bergdorf Goodman’s Shoe of the Day App

For the shoe-obsessed, like myself, this app is quite addicting. Check in everyday to see a new “shoe of the day.” Love the shoe of the day? Just click “buy” and you’ve got yourself a pair of designer shoes from Bergdorf’s extensive shoedepartment. Not feeling the shoe of the day? Click on “shoe salon” and browse through the other designer shoes Bergdorf’s currently has for sale.

POPSUGAR Mobile

This app can satisfy many interests. Not only is there FabSugar for the fashion obsessed, but there is PopSguar (celebrity news), BellaSugar (makeup/beauty), CasaSugar (interior décor), FitSugar (health/exercise), YumSugar (for foodies) and MUCH more. This multifunctional app will keep you entertained for hours!

Gilt App

First of all, if you’re not on Gilt, you need to be. It’s by far the best of its kind, offering amazing clothing, accessories, home décor, and even travel packages at an extremely discounted rate. Because these sales only last for 36 hours (and there’s usually only one/a few of each item) it is important to access the sales right away each day. That’s where the Gilt app comes in…you don’t want to miss out on that Alexander Wang accessories sale!

Style.com App

This is definitely my top fashion app. Where else can you get exclusive runway videos, front row feedback, complete coverage of all major collections at every Fashion Week, photos from the hottest parties, the latest fashion news and MORE? This is exactly why style.com is THE fashion app to have. Not only do you get the most immediate coverage of the shows at Fashion Week, but you can look through Spring, Fall, Resort, Pre-Fall and Couture collections going all the way back to 2000. Even vote on the Look of the Day every weekday to see if your favorite looks make the cut!

Spring Essentials: Accessories Edition

If you can’t tell already from reading my blog, I am obsessed with accessories. Don’t get me wrong…I love clothes, but I also love styling my outfits. There’s something about “decorating” an outfit with some fabulous accessories that makes me really happy and it’s a great opportunity to be creative everyday. Now that Spring is here, we can put away our clunky boots and our chunky sweaters and make way for some fun and fabulous accessories.

I’ve picked out some practical accessories and chosen a variety of each to fit any style or budget. Enjoy!

The Full Coverage Sandal

Top Row (left to right): Elizabeth & James Gypsy ($225 at piperlime.gap.com), 80%20 Open Toe Ankle Strap Booties ($145 at intermixonline.com)

Bottom Row (left to right): Sam Edelman Dawson ($130 at piperlime.gap.com), Boutique 9 ‘Post’ Caged Sandal ($120 at nordstrom.com)

This is the perfect sandal for Spring because they have some coverage to keep your feet warmer on those chilly days but they’re also super stylish and very practical. I recommend getting a pair of these in a neutral color to wear with anything. I love my Joie sandals and because they’re a neutral color, I literally wear them with anything. Pair your full coverage sandals with some cuffed denim shorts and a cute tank or your favorite skinny jeans and a vintage T…the possibilities are endless!

A Bright Clutch

Top Row (left to right): Jimmy Choo Daphne Ponyskin Leather Clutch ($1,495 at net-a-porter.com), Celestina Hand Painted Stingray Clutch ($990 at net-a-porter.com)

Bottom Row (left to right): Lauren Merkin Eve Satin Clutch ($165 at neimanmarcus.com), Oasis Oversized Ruched Clutch ($59 at asos.com)

As great as neutrals are because they go with everything, I absolutely love a bright accessory. An average outfit can be taken to the next level with a bright clutch. Looking for something to spruce up your little black dress? A bright clutch will do just the trick. I also like to pair a bright clutch with skinny jeans, a neutral tank, a fabulous blazer and some killer heels. Just make sure you do not have too many bright accessories because you want the focus to be on the clutch. Also, if you’re going with a bright clutch, please don’t match your shoes…it’s simply too much!

Statement Earrings

Top Row (left to right): Kenneth Jay Lane 22-Karat Gold-Plated Drop Earrings ($210 at net-a-porter.com), Alex + Ani Park Avenue Cocktail Earrings ($130 at shopbop.com)

Bottom Row (left to right): Fiona Paxton Monaco Earrings ($125 at shopbop.com), David Aubrey Green & Turquoise Earrings ($68 at shopkitson.com)

If you read my blog regularly, you may have realized by now that I love to make a fashion statement. A great pair of earrings is a perfect way to do just that. Like a bright clutch, it’s a great way to spruce up a plain outfit. Just make sure you’re not pairing your statement earrings with a statement necklace…that could be a little much. Statement earrings with a statement clutch? Perfectly acceptable. There’s enough room between the earrings and where you hold your clutch where it doesn’t look like too much is going on but you still look absolutely fabulous!

Hudson Introduces the Baby Boot Jean

From guest blogger, David James…check him out on twitter @jamesda1

The HUDSON Baby Boot is a fresh interpretation of the most widely adopted style and staple in premium denim, the classic Boot Cut. This new style, launching at the end of January, hits perfectly at the ankle for a silhouette that is both flirty and refined. With slight flare, the look is chic, versatile and flattering. The Baby Boot was inspired by the 60s, British pop and Rock n’ Roll.

The HUDSON Baby Boot will be available on the fashion shopping site What Goes Around Comes Around. Additional washes will be released in April. Check out www.hudsonjeans.com for more information.

Also be sure to check out out HUDSON on Facebook and Twitter to stay on top of the latest news!

Loving this new look. I would pair this with a cool tank or rocker t-shirt with some fun gladiator-type sandals. A vest would work too. Anything goes!

Wardrobe Essentials (Part 2)

Woo hoo! On to part 2 of my wardrobe essentials. Please keep in mind that although some of these ideas such as blazers, skinny jeans and black skirts (from my last post) may seem like obvious staples, not everyone has these things and I want to give people ideas of ways to be creative with these staple pieces. I also want to give you options because wardrobe staples may seem boring and I want to show you some pieces I have found that take these staples to the next level. I have also done my best to find wardrobe essentials for a variety of styles and budget types.

This part of wardrobe essentials is more accessories-based. Accessories are so important to any wardrobe because it’s the perfect way to spruce up your outfit and give you more outfit options without having to repeat the same thing over and over (or spend money on new wardrobe items). So many ways to mix and match…what will you choose?

Light Scarves:

1: Con Brillo Black Scarf, $70, 2: Necklush Jewelry, $42, 3: Metal Scarf, $81, 4: Third Rose From The Sun Scarf, $16, 5: Check Print Scarf, $150, 6: Bindy Printed Scarf, $53

I think scarves are a great accessory and YES…you can wear them all year round! I found a variety of scarves (some a little heavier and some lighter) so depending on the climate you live in, you can pick one that’s right for you. Of course I only gave 6 options and there are plenty more out there but I like the variety of colors…and hopefully you do too. If you’re not into the colored scarves, a simple neutral scarf is just fine too. I would recommend pairing a solid neutral scarf with a bright or patterned top to balance things out. You don’t want to look too plain now do you? Pair a light scarf with an everyday t-shirt and jeans or a sweater and leggings and you’ve turned an ordinary outfit into something special.

Black Pumps:

1: Dolce Vita Beam Pump, $145, 2: Jessica Simpson Debbie Pump, $50, 3: Alexander McQueen Heart Peep Toe Pumps, $695, 4: Brian Atwood Pumps, $485, 5: L.A.M.B. Jamila Pump, $250, 6: Jessica Simpson Delanie Pump, $89, 7: Pierre Dumas Lisa Pump, $30

I’m sure every woman has a pair of black pumps but many keep the same ones for a long time. They may be trashed, stretched out and not up-to-date. I chose a variety of black pumps to satisfy all tastes and budgets. Some people are satisfied with a simple black pump (see #1 and #4) but some may want a little more. Why not jazz up your everyday black pump with some yellow soles (see #3) or some studs (see #2)?! I think it’s obvious that the black pump literally goes with everything (skirts, pants, jeans, dresses, etc.) but personally, I only wear them in a professional setting or if my outfit is more complex (bright colors, patterns, prints, etc) to balance out my outfit. If you’re outfit is looking a little on the neutral/plain/boring side, I recommend wearing a shoe with more pizzazz (oh! new post opportunity perhaps?) but until then…the black pump is here to stay.

Oversized Handbag:

1: Yves Saint Laurent Oversized Muse Handbag, $1,495, 2: Arcante Handbag, $50, 3: Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Huge Hillier Hobo, $500, 4: Karlie Tote Bag, $120, 5: Berin Jenna Tote, $325, 6: Studded Satchel Bag, $400

Personally, I find an oversized tote to be an investment piece you’ll have for years to come. On the other hand, I completely understand it’s not within everyone’s budget right now to afford an investment piece, which is why I chose a variety of colors, styles and prices for this staple wardrobe item. Be sure that when you purchase an oversized handbag (or any handbag for that matter), it will be able to fit the items you carry everyday. Some people just carry a wallet and a few other things but others take it to work and need room for documents, etc. This is why you must find the one that’s right for you. I hope my options give you some idea what you’re looking for so you can find the perfect oversized handbag for yourself.

**Note: If you’re going to spend the money and choose an oversized handbag as an investment piece, be sure it’s a color and style you know will go with [almost] everything in your wardrobe. Also be sure it’s not the “it” bag and will be out of style next season…you don’t want to waste $1,000 (or more) on something that will be out of style in 3 months now do you? Spend wisely ladies.
