After ironically raving about how French girls do it better just days before the biggest American holiday of the year, I thought I’d give the US of A some love today and share with you some of my favorite US-based designers…who actually all happen part of the CFDA — The Council of Fashion Designers of AMERICA (or as I like to say ‘Merica but pronounced mer-kuh).
The French Girl Fascination
If you frequent blogs or fashion news websites, I’m sure you see repeat content quite often. Of course it’s always that writer’s take on the topic but regardless, we all pretty much write about the same stuff (yeah, I admit it). One specific theme I can’t go a day without seeing is the discussion of French girl style — it can range from beauty to fashion or just their overall lifestyle. So, why are we so obsessed with the Parisian ways of life? Let’s investigate.
Pineapples & Pool Slides
What do pool slides and pineapples have in common? Of course they’re both perfect for warm weather (especially if the pineapples involve some sort of alcoholic counterpart) but they also happen to be a theme in [what I think] is one of the best Resort ’15 collections (that you can actually buy right now…)
Fringetastic
What comes to mind when you think of fringe? Western movies? Gatsby-themed parties? Music festivals? That’s what usually comes to mind for me, personally (plus, it can overall just be tacky…and how many fringe bikinis is it going to take for us to move on to a new swimwear trend?). But then Chanel did this whole Paris meets Dallas thing for their Métiers d’Art show in December and I started to feel a little differently towards fringe…and it seems like other designers are starting to do the same.
Such a Poser
Before we had Instagram to share all of our #fromwhereistands and #ootds, we had Pose. If you’re not familiar with the social site/app, it’s one where you upload your outfit, tag accordingly and others can shop the look. I’ve been using it for about three years now and they’re always coming up with new features, but the latest one happens to be pretty major.
