Spring 2012 Trend: Bandeau Tops

Last week I shared with you the new sheer skirt trend for Spring 2012, and after viewing the collections from Milan…there’s another trend coming to town. Bandeau tops were all over the runways for Milan Fashion Week (and not the kind you wear under sheer tops). These are detailed, meant to be seen, bandeau tops worn with both pants and skirts. Some were shown with jackets and some without (I’d personally recommend a jacket) but this is another trend I’m curious to see whether or not it will translate to the streets. What do you think?

Spring 2012 Trend: The New Sheer Skirt

A trend I’ve come across for Spring 2012 is the sheer skirt. However, these aren’t any ordinary sheer skirts; these are more of an illusion…it’s the new sheer skirt. The look of a short dress and a long sheer skirt with intricate detailing at the hem, these are definitely show stopping pieces.

What do you think of this trend for Spring ’12? Do you think it will translate to the street or will it just be something we see on the red carpet? Let me know in the comments section below!

My 10 Favorite Looks From New York Fashion Week

Now that Fashion Week is over in New York, we will now move across the pond to London. But before that happens, I wanted to pick out my top 10 favorite looks from New York Fashion Week. I hope to be either wearing these next Spring or seeing these on the red carpet come awards season. We’ll see!

Photobucket Alexander Wang

I’m a huge Alexander Wang fan but this season wasn’t my favorite. However, I love how sporty yet chic this look is and the shapes on the top really make the outfit.

Photobucket Christian Siriano

This was actually one of my favorite Siriano collections to date. I love how he makes ball gowns but yet still finds a way to casualize his looks. I’m so thrilled chartreuse is in for Spring ’12…I am definitely looking forward to wearing it!

Photobucket Marchesa

It’s like liquid Marchesa pewter just melted over her body. This is so stunning and I really hope someone wears it to the Oscars this year!

Photobucket Jason Wu

If I had to wear a gown, this is what it would be. (duh…neon)

Photobucket Oscar de la Renta

I’m not sure who would really wear a cropped sweater with an enormous skirt but I’m really hope someone pulls this off on the red carpet.

Photobucket 3.1 Phillip Lim

You know I love me some neon but I’m actually really into the pastel hues for Spring ’12. Phillip Lim did it beautifully and he completely captured my attention after seeing this first look.

Photobucket Prabal Gurung

Of all the Spring ’12 collections, I’d have to say Prabal Gurung was my favorite. The details, the colors, the silhouettes…it was all incredible. I love how this purple “drips down” into the skirt. I just want to wear it now!

Photobucket Rag & Bone

The jacket absolutely makes this look. It’s a great color, amazing fit, and the white trim is striking but not overpowering. And of course…I love the pop of orange.

Photobucket Proenza Schouler

It’s Proenza…and I’ll leave it at that.

Photobucket Rodarte

There are so many elements of this look that intrigue me. From the blue/purple metallics to the sheer portion of the skirt…it’s just jaw dropping gorgeous. Another one I hope to see on the red carpet!

What were your favorite collections and/or looks from the New York Fashion Week Spring ’12 collections? Let me know in the comments sections below.

What I’m [Surprisingly] Coveting for Fall 2011

It seems like every other day I’m coveting something new but I wanted to share with you a few Fall items I’m [surprisingly] coveting this season. It goes to show that even if something doesn’t fit with your typical personal style, it’s sometimes fun to go outside your comfort zone and see what you can experiment with.

Here are a few things I’m [surprisingly] coveting for this Fall.

PhotobucketSam Edelman spiked loafers: Who knew I would EVER be coveting a flat shoe? Although these are technically the knockoff of the Louboutin Rollerball spiked flats, I’m actually very into the Sam Edelman version (probably because they’re rosegold and that’s my weakness). Am I starting to like flats?! I bought these Marc by Marc Jacobs mouse flats this weekend! I guess as long as they have spikes I find them to be acceptable 🙂

Rebecca Minkoff leopard blouse: For some reason, I’ve never been into animal print. I love it on other people (well, those who do it right) but when I put it on I feel quite odd. This Rebecca Minkoff leopard blouse is a good transition piece because the sheerness makes the leopard a little more subtle. It’s also a great classic style blouse that can be worn for so many occasions. *Add to cart*

RED Valentino tulle-trimmed dress: If you keep up with my blog, know me in person (or have ever looked in my closet) I am absolutely obsessed with color. However, red has always been my least favorite of the bunch. I guess those tacky shiny red dresses from high school dances (and unfortunately they were present in college as well) really scarred me for life. Thankfully, I’m starting to get over it. With red being ALL over the Fall ’11 runways, it made me think of it in a different, more sophisticated way. This RED Valentino number is the perfect fun yet classy party dress.

Photobucket Alexander Wang Anais loafer pumps: This will be totally contradictory but I will say it anyway…I’m immediately attracted to anything with a tassel but I’m not a huge fan of the loafer pumps (which ironically always have a tassel). But because these are Alexander Wang (meaning they’re awesome), a fun color and a little bit of a twist from the average loafer pump, I’M DIGGIN ‘EM!
