What do you do when it’s one of the last warm days in Chicago and you know you won’t be showing your arms or legs for quite some time? Show those arms and legs!
Although it’s barely crop top with skirt weather at home, it’s been pretty nice here overseas (especially our first day in Amsterdam on Saturday) so I thought I’d share a few photos that were taken right before I left. It’s a bit of a different direction for me, but when in Rome…(or Holland, I guess…even though these are in Chicago…but you get the picture).
WHAT (am I wearing):
Top & Skirt: Ellery. Bag: Sophia Webster. Shoes: Stella McCartney. Sunglasses: Illesteva. Bracelet: Paula Mendoza. Ring: Caia Jewels.
WHY (am I wearing it):
I’m sure you’re a bit surprised to see me in something somewhat fitted and quite feminine (because I’m a little shocked as well). But of course you know I had to downplay that with some platform brogues, right? A skirt and heels? Not on this girl. For some reason, though, when I was in Australia last February I came home with at least three new skirts (which is just one piece of clothing I rarely buy). The one that was the least “me” was this one (from one of my favorite Aussie boutiques, Désordre) but I still liked it and wanted to make it work, so I’ve been waiting for the perfect occasion to break it in. Also finding shoes that would work with the length of the skirt without being basic strappy heels or pumps was a challenge, so once that was settled I thought my last warm weather weekend in Chicago (pre-Eurotrip…which you can find all over my Instagram) seemed like the right time for this look. Top it off with a quirky Sophia Webster clutch and my usual Illestevas and you have yourself an outfit perfectly inappropriate for October 6 in Chicago.
