How many people do you know personally that have names like Arizona, Coco, Gigi or Indre to name a few? The answer is probably zero…unless you’re BFFs with those that go with the last names Muse, Rocha, Hadid or Rockefeller. How is it that all the cool fashion people have such AWESOME names? It’s like you’re born to be a model / muse / socialite/ DJ / brand ambassador.
So, what’s in a name exactly?
In certain instances, a unique name will probably happen in a creative household…where a lot of these girls come from. You know the drill…mom was a model, dad a photographer or producer, and they pop out a couple of kids — Marizpan and Kale and they grow up to be model / DJ hybrids. But others come from the middle of nowhere and just so happen to be given an out of the ordinary name and they ended up doing something out of the ordinary to become famous. Everyone has a different story. Regardless of why they were given these names, I thought it would be fun to point out some of the best fashion girl names / names in general / names where you cannot believe they exist (will save the best for last). You ready?
Suki Waterhouse. I remember when I first heard her name I had to Google her to see if it was real (you know, some people go by their middle names or a fancy pseudonym) and not only is that her birth name…she has a sister named Immy. It’s perfect, really. We just have to hope she doesn’t marry Bradley Cooper. Suki Cooper? It’s just not the same.
Langley Fox. Illustrator / designer Langley fox is the epitome of effortless and cool…which sort of works out perfectly because her name says just that. Going along with the whole cool name sister thing. Do you know who Langley’s sister is?
Dree Hemingway. Yes, Langley Fox is really Langley Fox Hemingway. Dree is still Dree Hemingway. And they are all part of THAT Hemingway family (great grandfather was Ernest Hemingway). Langley dropped her last name and stuck with her first and middle name so she could make it as an artist without using her last name (re: Kendall Jenner…sorry, just Kendall) but Dree Hemingway sounds so good, you can’t mess with that.
Arizona Muse. Yes, she was born in Arizona and she happens to be a muse to many…clearly, she was destined to be a model. I mean, LOOK AT THOSE EYEBROWS.
Chanel Iman. When your first name is the most recognizable fashion brand and your last name is a famous supermodel, how can you not be in fashion, right? (although Iman is actually Chanel’s middle name and real her last name is Robinson but we don’t have to dwell over the details)
Bella and Gigi Hadid. This is probably one of my favorite sister name combinations because it’s just so damn fashiony. You basically have to be a model or an art curator if given either of these names. They chose model but we’ll see…they’re not even in their 20s yet so if things don’t work out (or they hit 30) curator is still a viable career option.
Binx Walton. Unfortunately like Langley and Chanel, this one is sort of cheating, as Binx’s real name is Leona BUT no one has to know that (except now you). Who cares? SHE GOES BY BINX WALTON. My cool factor would skyrocket with a friend named Binx! Any takers?
Coco Rocha. Another faux cool name (original first name: Mikhaila) but a cool name regardless. Also how does that work? I always wondered. Like do Lady Gaga’s friends call her Stefani or Gaga? (or Lady?) Next time you see Coco Rocha (hopefully soon) you and a friend shout Coco! and Mikhaila! at the same time…see who she looks to first. Tweet me your results.
Hanneli Mustaparta. I really have no words for this one…in the best way possible.
Phoebe Philo. In general, Phoeobe just sounds like a fashion girl name…then add Philo and my mind is blown. An alliteration for a name is like hitting the jackpot when it comes to being famous…and even cooler when you’re not Kim Kardashian famous. Fun fact: Phoebe’s mom is an art dealer…so I’m not totally off with that Marzipan and Kale thing.
Harley Viera Newton. She not only has one cool name, she has THREE. And it gets better…she’s a DJ / model, her dad is a record executive and her mom is a model…like I said, Kale and Marzipan are in the near future.
Indre Rockerfeller. Having a last name like Rockerfeller is pretty badass on its own but add Indre? COME ON. She made a big move from Moda Operandi to Delpozo…but when am I going to be able to WEAR Indre Rockerfeller? (get what I’m saying?)
Leaf Greener. *DROPS MIC*

What are your thoughts on these fashion girl names? If you could choose one (featured here or not) what would it be? For first names, I’m torn between Binx and Dree. But first + last name? You can’t top Leaf Greener. NOTHING CAN. (except maybe you can find some inspiration here…Quinoa and Chevron are pretty solid)
