Ever since my discovery of these dainty Gabriela Artigas earrings in Sydney last February, I’ve been hooked (literally) on hook earrings. As the months go by, I notice more and more designers getting on board with this. Whether it’s a bold statement (like what Delfina Delettrez and Givenchy are known for) or something much smaller, these types of earrings are having a moment. So why not embrace it?
I’ve mentioned quite a few times before that I’ve never been all that into earrings until more recently. In the past, our options were mostly simple studs (boring), hoops (hate ’em) or chandelier earrings (hello high school)…none of which I’m interested in. But once we got into stacking/layering jewelry and single earrings, I was like alright, maybe we can fill up those empty holes in my ears. It started with one single Gabriela Artigas earring (see below), which I don’t think I’ve taken out more than twice since I got it over nine months ago…
And turned into a mini collection (which has to continue to stay mini, as I only have so many holes in my ears…at least for right now). All of these little guys, for the most part, I sleep in…but when I’m feeling like I need a bit of color or want to add something extra in the ear department, I can always count on my girl Delfina.
Which I realize you’ve probably seen way too many times in my outfit posts and on Instagram, but at least I get good use out of this thing, right?
Now the Delfinas and the Givenchys are doing the hook earrings but on somewhat of a larger scale. It’s designers like Gabriela Artgias, Melissa Joy Manning and Ivy & Liv (who I discovered in Amsterdam just last month) making the dainty pieces, ideal for those with multiple piercings.
What’s great about these types of earrings is that the dainty ones you can wear everyday, without ever having to take out (I promise they’re much more comfortable to sleep in than it appears) or you can go bold and pick out a funkier style to add something extra to your look when needed. AND a few of these designers sell single earrings so if you’re into that sort of thing, then this is an easy way to get that look.
I can’t help it but…I’m hooked!

What are your thoughts on hooked earrings? Are you a fan? Are you wearing some as we speak? Any designer you think does it particularly well? And just because, here’s a few styles you should look into right now…
