Colder temps = stronger outerwear game = darker colors = #feelingmyself. But let me explain…
When it comes to mixing black and navy…I’m all for it. And then add more navy? DROPS MIC (or in this case…lifts crown?)
WHAT (am I wearing):
Jacket: Nomia. Bodysuit: Margiela. Pants: Rachel Comey. Shoes: Prada. Headband: Proenza Schouler.
WHY (am I wearing it):
Neutrals. Texture. A hint of metallic (also a hint of leather). When I said I’m feelin’ myself, I mean I’m Nicki-ing and Bey-ing all over in Chicago (specifically my ‘hood that is Lincoln Park…as we finally got some street art — THANK YOU Interior Define / JC Rivera). The coolest way to take your monochromatic and / or neutral look to the next level is with some texture. And one specific way to to so (as I did here) is with a faux shearling bomber (any dope jacket with an interesting material will do). Because the jacket is quite oversized, a fitted top had to happen…and my go-to for any situation that requires a fitted top is of course a BODYSUIT. Although I have a couple, I only wear one and it appears that Margiela is the one for me. Adding some more navy to the look, let’s bring in some navy pants (why not?) Navy and black is always a good idea…but going heavier on the navy (rather than the black) is an even better idea. Finishing it all off with some brogues (they do go with everything) and a leather headband (as it’s clear I no longer do my hair, but sometimes I should, and for those days…we wear leather headbands)…and it looks like we’re done here.
