This isn’t Peter Pilotto’s first rodeo on CCF. He happens to be one of my favorite British fashion designers, plus his designs have been seen quite a few times in my WWW posts. But something pretty major happened for the duo behind those killer prints (yes there is a second half to Peter Pilotto — Christopher de Vos). Care to find out what that something is?
If you’ve ever wondered if the equivalent to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund existed anywhere else, it indeed does. The British version — BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund — was won yesterday by none other than Peter Pilotto. This means Pete & Chris get a year-long mentorship and a £200,000 grant (or $331,580). Fingers crossed for Peter Pilotto shoes and bags thanks to that $$$.
What I especially love about their designs is not just the color and prints (obviously, those are just incredible) but the balance they show throughout their collection. Of course you can get that statement dress in the most perfect prints but then every once in a while you come across a jacquard A-line skirt and you’re both surprised it’s a Pilotto but at the same time it makes perfect sense.
So I just wanted to take the time to dedicate a post to not just one of my favorite British fashion designers, but one of my favorite designers in general. Peter Pilotto, Pete & Chris, PP, P-squared…whatever you want to call it, they make really pretty things happen. Most importantly, the use of this dress/coat as well as a puffer I actually like.

It’s crazy look back at some of their collections. Like for Fall 2011, it looks a bit Pilotto but I wouldn’t necessarily be able to pin-point the designer if I didn’t know. Then if you go even further back to Spring 2009, it’s clearly all Pilotto. So it looks like about Resort 2012 is where they really started to establish and stick with the Peter Pilotto aesthetic (that I adore so much today).
Between this and their line for Target coming out February 9, it really is PILOTTO FOR THE WIN.
And if you’re in the mood for to shop for some printed goodness…

I love their designs too. And my favorite is Ivy puff jacket – there’s only $2K gap between us 😉
