There’s something about a cape that just makes you feel extra cool — maybe it’s the superhero reference, perhaps because it’s extra fun to twirl / run / do anything to make your cape get some extra volume. Regardless of why, capes are just super in their own way. Something that cannot be explained. Only experienced. Just see for yourself.
Fun stuff, right?
And sometimes two dogs crash your photoshoot (and for someone who’s borderline crazy obsessed with dogs like myself…this was a pretty fantastic moment).
More running occurred during this shoot than any other time in my life. That’s what a cape does to me!
WHAT (am I wearing):
Cape: Azeeza. Sweater: Alexander Wang. Pants: Frame Denim. Shoes: Acne Studios. Ring: VK Collection. Clutch: Reece Hudson.
WHY (am I wearing it):
My fascination with capes is no new news. They’re a classic piece that can be designed and styled in so many ways — whether it’s a practical piece of outerwear or something not so useful in Chicago winters (like this silk cape I’m wearing here today), I’m down 100%. Even those that aren’t full capes, more like a cape blouse or a cape dress…again, I’m in. I’ve had my eye on the Azeeza ‘Summers’ cape (actually named after my friend Mary, whose maiden name is Summers…and has rocked this cape before) and I don’t know what took me so long, but it finally happened (and I’m extra excited to work the blue). I wear a lot of black and navy and this shade of blue is the perfect hue in-between a dark and bright blue (a nice pop in my very neutral cold weather wardrobe). Because it’s loose (like most things in my closet) I paired with my favorite kind of jeans — the new skinny (specifically the Frame Le Garcon style that I cannot recommend enough). Keeping it simple with some black oxfords and a hint of shine with some Reece Hudson gold goodness…and there you have it. SUPER CAPE.
And that’s the last What Why Where post of 2014!!
