Once it starts snowing and you have to leave the house (and not just to run errands…like you’re actually going to see people, on purpose) you have that oh shit! moment. What on earth are you supposed to wear? Well, this is a start…
And it gets a little cold once the coat comes off but HOW COULD I NOT SHOW YOU HOW AWESOME THIS SWEATER IS? No longer shifting into neutrals, I guess.
WHAT (am I wearing):
Coat: Givenchy. Sweater: Proenza Schouler. Jeans: Christopher Kane x J Brand. Boots: Balenciaga. Bag: M2MALLETIER. Earrings: Jules.
WHY (am I wearing it):
For me, I consider two major things when getting dressed for a snowy day — warmth and whether or not I’m willing to get these shoes dirty. There’s certain boots that just take snow and salt well, meaning they’ll get dirty but they’re easy to clean. These are my go-to casual boots for that. They got me through last winter, and if they can handle that, they can handle anything. Warmth, I have to consider my heaviest sweaters, and what coats those thick knits can fit underneath. I’d have to say it’s a tie between this Proenza sweater and the sweater worn here for my warmest. And I’ve already worn them both for What Why Where posts, so I’m either going to be a repeat offender very soon or I need to get shopping. The coat I’ve had for at least three years (via eDrop-Off…love a good designer steal) and it’s been my go-to winter outerwear ever since…although this Acne coat has sort of taken its place as of late. So I thought I’d bring back an oldie for today. And I have to say those two coats are also tied for warmest outerwear in my closet. So when you do the math…warm sweater + heavy coat + boots that can take a beating = YOUR SNOW DAY OUTFIT. Just add some jeans (and when have you ever seen me where regular denim on CCF? I think never…so take it in) and one of my wardrobe staples, a day-to-night-bag (this one happens to be a new favorite designer of mine I shared with you a few weeks ago) and there you have it. SNOW MUCH FUN.

Love that sweater! I’m a blogger based in Chicago too and I know exactly what you mean about boots in the salt and snow. I love the snow, but at the same time hate not being able to wear my favorite suede boots.
