What Why Where: Striped

A striped shirt is a wardrobe staple for most people, but for me…I can live without them. After I came across this matching set on the Net-a-Porter sale, though, I definitely reconsidered those stripes.

I was all like THE MORE THE MERRIER — BRING IT, STRIPES.

And when you suddenly see a car that doesn’t seem to be stopping for you (true story…)

WHAT (am I wearing):
Top: TibiPants: Tibi. Shoes: Schutz. Sunglasses: Zac Posen x Illesteva. Necklace: A/M.

WHY (am I wearing it):
So I just realized I sort of lied in the first sentence of my post. I saw this matching set while writing a post about the subject a few months back. I loved it, but like I said, stripes aren’t really my thing (except when they’re extra wide and appear on equally as wide pants). THEN the Net-a-Porter sale happened and I was like SOLD (see what a little discount does to me?) But why am I wearing this today? Of course the day I wore this (a few days ago) it was the coolest day we’ve had in a while. Low 60s…in mid-June! Isn’t it supposed to be summer yet? Regardless, I was happy I got to wear this, as it’s a little too much clothing for the typical hot / humid days we have in Chicago summers. This striped outfit is super light though so it’s perfect for the cooler summer nights. And like I mentioned in the matching set post, I love the idea of these pairs because they can be worn together or separately. This was my first time wearing them together but I do know from experience that top also goes quite well with leather pants. Due to the loose-on-loose nature of this look, I had to do heels. Enough said. And not only was this my first time wearing these matching pieces together, it was my first time wearing this necklace the way [I think] it’s supposed to be worn. You may have seen it before as a choker but from what I remember when I bought it is that long piece is supposed to be worn in the front (and I always wear it in the back). I don’t typically wear low-cut tops so I thought this was the perfect excuse to do so! Sort of like a mini harness effect, no?
