Rag & Bone Meet & Greet at Nordstrom

What better way to end my week (and celebrate my recovery from being sick the previous 2 days) than hang out with David Neville and Marcus Wainwright of Rag & Bone?! Not only did I get to talk to the talented guys behind one of my favorite labels but I picked up some SWEET R&B pieces along the way (including the coolest printed jeans I’ve ever owned).

My favorite outfit I’ve ever put on (including the coolest pants I’ve ever owned)–MSGM top, Rag & Bone pants (which I obviously bought both) and my own Alexander Wang heels.

A lovely signed copy of my photo with the designers.

I absolutely loved meeting the Marcus & David once again (I interviewed them for Qlix magazine a few years ago) and everyone at Nordstrom and the Rag & Bone team were so amazing (and very well dressed may I add).

Spring 2012 Trend: The Athlete

I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but today’s post was inspired by the Superbowl. Although I only paid attention during commercials, I had an idea of what was going on…and all I could think of was Spring ’12.

Ever wish you could turn your track pants into a stylish outfit? I still wouldn’t recommend trying that but you are in luck for Spring.  With windbreaker jackets, side striped pants and mesh seen on the runways last September, it’s looking like the athlete is in for Spring 2012. However, the designers elevated these items to look like high quality fashion-forward pieces. So please don’t leave your house in work out clothes, unless of course you’re going to the gym.

Here’s a look at some of the sports-inspired looks for Spring ’12…

Will you be sporting the athletic trend this Spring?

Leopard is Neutral

Leopard, and animal print in general, is something that I’ve always liked in small doses but never really incorporated into my wardrobe. After including a little bit of leopard in my What I’m [Surprisingly] Coveting for Fall 2011 post and actually purchasing my first leopard piece, an Alexander McQueen leopard print wrap bracelet, I’m finally giving in. After all…leopard IS neutral.

Check out my favorite [tasteful] leopard picks below. (remember, leopard can sometimes look cheap so make sure it’s a tasteful piece!)

Velvet Obsessions For Fall 2011

Velvet has been a trend that has stayed the last few Fall seasons. It’s never been a favorite of mine, but after my Topshop leggings purchase this past weekend, I’ve decided to reconsider.

Check out my velvet obsessions for Fall 2011…

And as George Costanza would say…”I would drape myself in velvet if it were socially acceptable.” And if you’re not a Seinfeld fan, then I’ll leave you with a moment of confusion at the end of this blog post. Have a great weekend!

My 10 Favorite Looks From New York Fashion Week

Now that Fashion Week is over in New York, we will now move across the pond to London. But before that happens, I wanted to pick out my top 10 favorite looks from New York Fashion Week. I hope to be either wearing these next Spring or seeing these on the red carpet come awards season. We’ll see!

Photobucket Alexander Wang

I’m a huge Alexander Wang fan but this season wasn’t my favorite. However, I love how sporty yet chic this look is and the shapes on the top really make the outfit.

Photobucket Christian Siriano

This was actually one of my favorite Siriano collections to date. I love how he makes ball gowns but yet still finds a way to casualize his looks. I’m so thrilled chartreuse is in for Spring ’12…I am definitely looking forward to wearing it!

Photobucket Marchesa

It’s like liquid Marchesa pewter just melted over her body. This is so stunning and I really hope someone wears it to the Oscars this year!

Photobucket Jason Wu

If I had to wear a gown, this is what it would be. (duh…neon)

Photobucket Oscar de la Renta

I’m not sure who would really wear a cropped sweater with an enormous skirt but I’m really hope someone pulls this off on the red carpet.

Photobucket 3.1 Phillip Lim

You know I love me some neon but I’m actually really into the pastel hues for Spring ’12. Phillip Lim did it beautifully and he completely captured my attention after seeing this first look.

Photobucket Prabal Gurung

Of all the Spring ’12 collections, I’d have to say Prabal Gurung was my favorite. The details, the colors, the silhouettes…it was all incredible. I love how this purple “drips down” into the skirt. I just want to wear it now!

Photobucket Rag & Bone

The jacket absolutely makes this look. It’s a great color, amazing fit, and the white trim is striking but not overpowering. And of course…I love the pop of orange.

Photobucket Proenza Schouler

It’s Proenza…and I’ll leave it at that.

Photobucket Rodarte

There are so many elements of this look that intrigue me. From the blue/purple metallics to the sheer portion of the skirt…it’s just jaw dropping gorgeous. Another one I hope to see on the red carpet!

What were your favorite collections and/or looks from the New York Fashion Week Spring ’12 collections? Let me know in the comments sections below.
