Ah, the Met Gala. The most glorious and glamorous night of the year. Who needs actresses in borrowed gowns (re: Oscars) when you have actors / models / singers / designers / socialites / people you’ve never heard of with fabulous names in the most incredible borrowed gowns? Plus, at $25k a ticket you know they’re not going to skimp on accessories. We have a lot of looks to get through so let’s get to it!

Architecture & Fashion
Chicago may not be a fashion capital [just yet] but what we are known for is having crazy unpredictable weather, deep dish pizza and ridiculously amazing architecture. Now you may not think that has anything to do with the way we dress (referring to the architecture…not necessarily the pizza, although I do have my designated “eating pants”) but what if I told you it actually does?
2015 SAG Awards Red Carpet
Ah, the SAG Awards. It’s like the forgotten middle child between the Golden Globes and the Oscars…but that doesn’t mean the red carpet shouldn’t get some love. There’s actually been quite a few fabulous looks at the SAG Awards from years past (like when Anna Gunn proved that fit really matters and killed it in the accessories department with that Edie Parker clutch, for example) as well as ones we wish we forgot (re: crop topping while pregnant). So let’s see what went down on that red carpet last night…
2014 Met Gala Red Carpet (Part 1)
Of any posts here on ChiCityFashion, there’s nothing I look forward to more than writing about a red carpet event. But when it comes to something as fashion-focused as the Met Gala, I’m pretty much freaking out for weeks in advance (and I don’t even go to this thing).
So last night was the big night. We saw a lot of crop tops, dramatic backs and my predictions were oh-so-wrong (with one exception). Kind of a bummer that Amanda Seyfried and Jennifer Lawrence didn’t show up. I always look forward to seeing what they’ll wear (and unfortunately I wasn’t either of their understudies for this particular event) but we still have 87 looks to judge. Yes, 87. Take a deep breath and…let’s go.
Cold Shoulder
Between overalls, crop tops, and grunge there’s no doubt (pun intended) that 90s trends are in full force. Another one to add to the list? Let’s just say if you wear it now in Chicago you’ll definitely have a cold shoulder (or two).
