Yesterday was one of those glorious days where my shows didn’t start until the afternoon, which means I could sleep in…or I could get work done and go to Bergdorfs. Option 2 happened. Highlights of the day: I wore a sequin sweatsuit, got a sick pair of Charlotte Olympia flats, and hung out with my girl Miss Ladyfinger. Then onto my first show…

Christian Siriano’s Modern Ballerina
Although I missed the first few looks of the show (thank you NYC traffic) I ran into Eyebeam (literally sprinted down 21st in Valentino wedges) eager to see what Siriano had in store for Spring ’13. After his vampire bat inspired Fall ’12 collection, I was a little surprised to see this…
NYFW Fall 2012 Highlights
Now that my feet have stopped throbbing and I’ve finally rehydrated, it can only mean one thing…fashion week is officially over (for me at least…not cool enough to go to London yet).
I had an amazing time, as always, and I wanted to share my highlights from this trip. Between the Fall ’12 shows, events, and catching up with friends I really couldn’t have asked for a better week!
Just attending J. Mendel was magical. The collection was incredible and I was so honored to be there. After figuring out I wasn’t seeing double and it was indeed the Olsen twins in the front row, it made my J. Mendel experience that much better.
Caught the model just as she [almost] wiped out…as the finale look at J. Mendel.
Trying a really awesome Japanese restaurant called Village Yokocho in the East Village.
Meeting Mario Batali and once again seeing the lovely Elettra Wiedemann at the Goodness Pop Up press preview.
Seeing a piece of Prabal Gurung Spring ’12 in person (on Elettra after her wardrobe change). I literally could not breathe when she first came out.
Hosting the GLSEN lounge presented by Elle Magazine with my friend Jonathan Valdez of Orange Juice & Biscuits.
Such a personal (and delicious) little treat in gift bags from the Lela Rose show.
FINALLY checking out Kirna Zabete.
Watching Mr. Newton in action.
Photographing the street style photogs.
Seeing this amazing look at Christian Siriano Fall 2012.
Picking up some new pieces at Opening Ceremony.

Oh and I may have picked up a Muppets x Opening Ceremony sweater…

And overall to sum up the shows, here’s a few things you can expect to see for Fall 2012—burgundy, dark green, ink blue, monochromatic looks (especially in white) and textured leather detailing. Will you be sporting these trends next Fall? (if you’re pondering…don’t worry, because you have just under a year to think about it)
Christian Siriano Fall 2012
One of my favorite shows I’ve attended so far, Christian Siriano Fall 2012 really blew me away. He’s known for his evening dresses but he KILLED IT with leather jackets this season. I loved the progression of looks from all white (which looked amazing with the contrast of those dark lips) to a grey static print, with a few fur pieces here and there, then burgundy and finishing with lots of black. What I love about Christian is that he does black very well. If you know me at all, black totally isn’t my thing…but with the silhouettes, textures and techniques he uses it’s all so beautiful and interesting.
Christian was inspired by bats for this collection, specifically the ’30s film “The Vampire Bat.” He was really intrigued by their dark and dramatic presence along with the “intricate details of their veins and the bone structure of their wings.”
And because I didn’t get a good shot of this one, here’s my favorite look from Christian Siriano Fall ’12 (via Style.com)
Red Carpet Fashion: 2012 Grammys
Interrupting New York Fashion Week for a red carpet fashion feature! I apologize for not live tweeting the Grammys last night, but I’m in NYC and staying at my hotel watching TV just wasn’t going to happen. BUT I decided to throw in a little red carpet fashion post in the midst of all this fashion week madness. Hope you enjoy!
Although the looks at this particular awards show are always just a tacky mess, here are those worth discussing…
