TV’s Biggest Night (Part 1)

Two red carpet posts two days in a row? Thank you VMAs and Labor Day for forcing the Emmys on us a little early…and on a Monday. Last night was TV’s biggest night (AKA the Emmys). It’s not necessarily fashion’s biggest night but there were actually pretty decent looks this year. Even I’m sort of impressed. But enough of this intro, let’s see who wore what to the 2014 Emmys.

Red Carpet Fashion: 2013 Emmys

So now that I’ve returned in Chicago it’s time to get back to real life (a life sans daily croissants and baguettes, unfortunately) and a regular posting schedule starts once again this week. I hope you didn’t miss me too much but if you did, I sure as hell missed you. I don’t think there’s any better “welcome back” post than some red carpet commentary. I did not watch the Emmys last night because I was enjoying one final hoorah in London but I did look at all the red carpet photos.  The Emmys are by no means the fashion event of the year but I haven’t seen dresses this bad since Facebook stalking my college classmates’ prom photos. Seriously.

Red Carpet Fashion: 2012 Emmys (Part 3)

Although I was less than impressed with the overall fashion on the red carpet last night (see official rant here), I did happen to find 2 more of my best dressed picks in part 2.

Will I choose another? Let’s find out.

Red Carpet Fashion: 2012 Emmys (Part 2)

With part 1 of my Emmys fashion coverage bringing you a red carpet rant, a mermaid in Vegas and my first best dressed pick of the night…I’m hoping you’re all caught up.

Now it’s time for part 2. The judging continues…

Red Carpet Fashion: 2012 Emmys (Part 1)

The first major awards show of the season, the Emmys, were last night. The red carpet was full of bordeux, yellow, some shamefull beaded turquoise numbers and a pleasantly surprising influx of J. Mendel.

Like I tweeted last night, I feel like with the rise of social media, the increasing popularity of red carpet coverage along with things like Fashion Police, celebrities are less willing to take a risk when it comes to these events. You would think it might have the opposite effect but let’s be honest…no one wants to be bashed on national television. So, gone are the days of Bjork’s swan dress and JLo’s extreme low cut Versace caftan….it looks like a red carpet full of ruching, jewel tones and strapless gowns is in our future for the long haul.

Now that my rant is out of the way (thanks for listening), let’s get to the judging.
