Interview With Brad Goreski

Saturday afternoon I attended Brad Goreski’s book signing at Brooks Brothers and scored an interview with him before the event started. He was such a pleasure to talk to and as always…I was obsessed with his outfit. Wearing Black Fleece head-to-toe (except for a killer pair of Louboutins), how can you not love this?

We started off chatting about Fashion’s Night Out and how I thought it was great he decided to come to Chicago for that stylish evening. That night in September was his first time here and he’s been back a few more times since. He says he loves Chicago now, and enjoys dining at Pump Room and going to Underground. Before our interview he had just finished brunch at Luxbar, which let’s be honest…you can never go wrong. I also told him his boyfriend Gary is one of my favorite people to follow on Twitter…and I’m kind of obsessed with his dogs, who get lots of air time on It’s a Brad Brad World.

So we all know Brad’s a stylist, has his own TV show and has written a book, but do you know his most prized fashion possession or favorite place he’s traveled? Well now you can find out!

What womenswear designer do you wish designed menswear?
Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. I wore a head-to-toe Chanel outfit once and I wish he did more menswear. I’d also love to wear Jason Wu.

Favorite place you’ve traveled?
Tokyo for fashion. Greece overall. (where he met his long time boyfriend Gary)

If you had to choose a title for your second book, it would be…
Brad to the Bone.

What’s your process for getting dressed?
I start with one key piece and build everything around that. It’s similar for when I’m styling a client, except the key piece doesn’t always end up being the star of the look.

What’s your most prized fashion possession?
Right now I’m loving my Simon Spurr jacket with leather sleeves. It adds a little edge to my outfit.  But my Louis Vuitton duffle has the most sentimental value.

Brad, I leave you with one question…when am I going to see this Spurr jacket?? It sounds like something I’d be very interested in borrowing.

Red Carpet Fashion: 2012 Oscars (Part 1)

If you’re going to tune in to one awards show all season and watch just one red carpet…THIS is the one. But if you didn’t, thankfully you have me.

The Oscars were last night and the red carpet was the best I’ve seen all season. I’m not saying everyone got it right but I wasn’t totally bored…and that says a lot. We saw a lot of strapless and one-shoulder gowns (which to be honest I’m not a huge fan of either, but they weren’t all terrible), of course the neutral beaded gowns which are expected at the Oscars, but the biggest trend was white. Not an easy thing to pull off but let’s see who got it right and who missed the mark on the red carpet…

Chi City Closet: Louis Vuitton Lockit Clutch

Ever since I saw the Louis Vuitton Lockit Clutch on the Fall 2011 runway, I knew I had to have this piece.

Photobucket

I was disappointed when I found out this was not available online and there was an immediate waitlist. Whenever I see a runway piece I can’t stop thinking about, I do whatever I can to get it. I was wait listed at several Louis Vuitton stores and never got a call. After visiting my parents in the burbs last weekend my mom told me she had a surprise for me and the first thing I noticed was a Louis Vuitton box. Clearly my runway stalking has rubbed off on my mom…

I am now the proud owner of the Louis Vuitton Fall ’11 Lockit clutch! This is by far one of the coolest bags I own. I haven’t worn this out yet (so here’s your sneak peak!) but I cannot wait to wear it.

Best Dressed: The Love Ball 2011

Last night was Natalia Vodianova’s annual Love Ball that took place at Valentino Garavani’s Château de Wideville. Every year since 2005, the supermodel has brought together the most famous designers and celebrities for a large charity event in favor of the Naked Heart Foundation, an association that helps underprivileged children in Russia.

This year’s theme? The white fairy tale. Gorgeous fashion and equally gorgeous people…all gathering for a great cause. This definitely calls for a best dressed post!

That dress is like liquid on her…it’s absolutely stunning. But my favorite part? That bag! Anything that sparkles with feathers is okay fabulous in my book.

PhotobucketMargherita Missoni

At the most formal events, I seem to find Margherita wearing a belt (which tends to make things more casual) yet she always looks perfectly appropriate for the occasion..and it works for her. I LOVE this dress. Ruffles, metallics and Missoni…sounds like the complete package.

PhotobucketDaphne Guinness

Daphne can wear anything and everything…and she’ll always be fierce. Who else could pull off a rainbow Alexander McQueen caftan gown with an extraordinary headpiece? [hopefully me one day]

PhotobucketCaroline Sieber

This outfit is definitely different than most of the crowd, but I appreciate that. Although this looks like a combination of a blouse, leather shorts and a corset, it just works here. Oh and that Louis Vuitton Monogram Nova Minaudiere bag is one of my favorite things Louis Vuitton has ever produced. [note: I’m a sucker for tassels]

PhotobucketAnna Dello Russo

A best dressed post at a fashion event would not be complete without some ADR. Looking stunning in a Roberto Cavalli gown, I imagine this is what she’d look like at her wedding (except with a custom fruit headpiece instead of the flowers). As always, I live for Anna Dello Russo.
