The Best & Worst of the Fall 2012 Ads

Now that Spring ’13 is upon us (a month away to be exact), that means stores are finally getting in the Fall ’12 merchandise (see how fashion makes sense) and the new ad campaigns are out for all to judge. As always, there are some good ones and some that just confuse me, so to make things easy we’re just going to do this superlative style.

Tees That Make You Look Twice

If there’s one wardrobe item I can’t live without, it’s a fun t-shirt. Whether it’s got a strange animal or an ironic quote, I just love a good tee that makes you look twice. Animal Royalty is the perfect example of this (and if you don’t know who they are, read up on the brand here) but here’s some other ideas to get your creative t-shirt juices flowing…plus the comments you may or may not receive from wearing them.

Neiman Marcus x Target is Happening

Target’s latest designer collaboration has been announced! On December 1st, you will be able to shop 24 of America’s favorite designers (who happen to be CFDA members) through the latest collaboration of Neiman Marcus and Target. The coolest part about this collection (besides the fact that it’s 24 designers) is that it will be sold both in Target and Neiman Marcus stores PLUS on target.com and neimanmarcus.com.

Loafers Not To Loaf Around In

In September of last year I posted about the things I was surprisingly coveting for Fall 2011. First on the list? Loafers. Almost a year later, it’s still one of the things I’m coveting except it’s not necessarily for Fall…and it’s no surprise.

I have been against flats for quite some time now but after fashion weeks, local events, and other random outings (all in heels) I’ve been giving my feet a much needed break (and they’re very thankful by the way). It all started with my Marc by Marc Jacobs mouse flats (flats are more bearable when spiked and/or studded, in my opinion) and after my most recent trip to NYC, I am now the proud owner of loafers…Jimmy Choo studded loafers to be exact.

Now I’m passing along my new found obsession for loafers onto you. If studs aren’t your thing (then maybe we should reconsider our friendship), there’s glitter, floral print, sequins, leopard and much more. Some call them slippers (but don’t wear these to bed…they deserve to be seen), others claim they’re smoking shoes (but you don’t have to pick up smoking to wear them). Whatever you want to call them, they’re all loafers…and they’re all awesome.

Dior Couture with Raf Simons

The couture shows in Paris started this week and the most anticipated of the bunch was Dior (remember the whole Galliano ordeal and how they haven’t really had a creative director for over a year?)

Raf Simons made his debut as Dior creative director with the Fall 2012 couture collection that walked the runway for the first time yesterday. After the whole “who’s going to be the next creative director?” mess (and an abundance of rumors) I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with what Raf did with this collection.

Dior has always been known for ladylike silhouettes, but he took it to another level by offering feminine silhouettes 2 ways–the classic way and with an edge. He showed a lot of ankle-length dresses in light pink and white but also showed this silhouette in darker, edgier prints. Also seen throughout this collection were little peplum tops (most at that “is it a dress or is it a top?” awkward length) paired with pants. When it comes to couture, designers tend to go for this “dress with pants” type of look, which I find interesting because I can’t see this translating to real life. However, it’s couture….which has nothing to do with real life. So take a look at these pretty pictures and decide for yourself. How do you think Raf Simons did with his debut collection as Dior creative director?
