My 10 Favorite Looks From New York Fashion Week

Now that Fashion Week is over in New York, we will now move across the pond to London. But before that happens, I wanted to pick out my top 10 favorite looks from New York Fashion Week. I hope to be either wearing these next Spring or seeing these on the red carpet come awards season. We’ll see!

Photobucket Alexander Wang

I’m a huge Alexander Wang fan but this season wasn’t my favorite. However, I love how sporty yet chic this look is and the shapes on the top really make the outfit.

Photobucket Christian Siriano

This was actually one of my favorite Siriano collections to date. I love how he makes ball gowns but yet still finds a way to casualize his looks. I’m so thrilled chartreuse is in for Spring ’12…I am definitely looking forward to wearing it!

Photobucket Marchesa

It’s like liquid Marchesa pewter just melted over her body. This is so stunning and I really hope someone wears it to the Oscars this year!

Photobucket Jason Wu

If I had to wear a gown, this is what it would be. (duh…neon)

Photobucket Oscar de la Renta

I’m not sure who would really wear a cropped sweater with an enormous skirt but I’m really hope someone pulls this off on the red carpet.

Photobucket 3.1 Phillip Lim

You know I love me some neon but I’m actually really into the pastel hues for Spring ’12. Phillip Lim did it beautifully and he completely captured my attention after seeing this first look.

Photobucket Prabal Gurung

Of all the Spring ’12 collections, I’d have to say Prabal Gurung was my favorite. The details, the colors, the silhouettes…it was all incredible. I love how this purple “drips down” into the skirt. I just want to wear it now!

Photobucket Rag & Bone

The jacket absolutely makes this look. It’s a great color, amazing fit, and the white trim is striking but not overpowering. And of course…I love the pop of orange.

Photobucket Proenza Schouler

It’s Proenza…and I’ll leave it at that.

Photobucket Rodarte

There are so many elements of this look that intrigue me. From the blue/purple metallics to the sheer portion of the skirt…it’s just jaw dropping gorgeous. Another one I hope to see on the red carpet!

What were your favorite collections and/or looks from the New York Fashion Week Spring ’12 collections? Let me know in the comments sections below.

Althea Harper Spring 2012

One of my favorite Project Runway contestants to date, Althea Harper showed her Spring 2012 collection this year at fashion week. She decided to do a show this year, as opposed to a presentation like I attended last September.

Althea designs clothing that’s fun to wear but never too over-the-top. She showed a lot of black and white looks along with some grey body-con pieces, and a really beautiful print seen in various garments throughout the collection. This season, Althea had some great separates (including her amazing blazers…which I’m happy to say I own one from last year) that are very easy to incorporate into your wardrobe, along with various types of dresses from fitted cocktail to long flowy maxis. My favorite is the black sheer finale dress…stunning dressed up or down.

Walter Spring 2012 at New York Fashion Week

One of the most unique presentations I attended during fashion week, I loved the set up of Walter Spring 2012 on the rooftop of The Empire Hotel.

Photobucket
I had the pleasure of interviewing Walter himself who said he just wants to make clothes that a cool twenty-something girl can wear for both day and night (and who wouldn’t want that, right?) He prides himself on his jackets, but his dresses are just as great. His Spring ’12 collection showed a lot of neutral separates with some pops of pink, red and coral throughout.  This is such a great collection because these pieces can easily be incorporated into any woman’s wardrobe and they’re useful for so many occasions.  A few of my favorites include the laser-cut effect orange dress and the white asymmetrical flowy skirt dress (which can both be found individually below).

Carlos Miele Spring 2012 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

This was my second time seeing a Spring collection from Carlos Miele and I was really looking forward to seeing what he had in store for Spring ’12. This season he showed a lot of white and gold (which I saw last Spring as well) as well as a vibrant orange and an array of blues (turquoise, seafoam green, and ocean blue). I loved the shades of orange he used in the collection, especially paired with the gold belts. The styling was very “wealthy housewife on vacation in St. Barths” (which was very classic for him…nothing wrong with that). And overall at the end of the show, it made me really want to go on vacation!

Some familiar faces in the front row were Vogue‘s Hamish Bowles, Harper’s Bazaar’s Joanna Hillman and the International Herald’s Suzy Menkes.

Various Events at Milk Studios

On Sunday I attended various events at milk studios, including a jewelry presentation from Erickson Beamon and Anndra Neen, along with The Lake & Stars, Reece Hudson, and Katie Gallagher.

My absolute favorite was Erickson Beamon. The models were wearing feathered outfits and avant-garde makeup with the stunning jewelry surrounding in this “garden-esque” setup.

And having nothing to do with these collections, I came across this girl on my way into Anndra Neen with the sickest studded jacket…ever.

Here’s a look at Anndra Neen.

My favorite bag I saw at Reece Hudson (of course, with a tassel).

My favorite look from Katie Gallagher [middle], which is weird because I normally hate red, especially paired with black…but I love this silhouette. Dark yet intriguing…
