Herve Leger Fall 2012: Not Just a Bandage Dress

When most people think of Herve Leger, they think of the bandage dress. Why wouldn’t you? It’s what they’re known for, right? Well season after season, the perception is challenged and with Fall 2012 full of an array of silhouettes, it’s clear that Herve Leger is not just a bandage dress.

This collection was mostly in the neutral family with black, grey and brown but the various shades, textures and prints is what really made it unique. To [successfully] do a fully neutral collection, it better be interesting. And this was definitely interesting. From the black harnesses to the fur accents, those extreme gladiator boots and everything in between…your eye can’t help but be drawn to these looks.

Wasn’t having much camera luck at this one but I did happen to snap this photo which I was particularly proud of…

Kinda fun, right? Well anyway…here’s some images that you can actually see, with some of the key looks from Herve Leger Fall 2012.

Mara Hoffman Fall 2012

What do you get when you cross tribal prints, a safari, modern western and boho chic? You get Mara Hoffman Fall ’12. The loose, bohemian-like silhouettes were what I would normally think of for Spring but who says you can’t channel your inner-hippie for Fall? The prints were gorgeous but I also enjoyed some of the solid looks. I really loved the wide brim hats and I thought it was kind of fun to have the scarf underneath. Not something I personally would wear but I like it for runway…plus it kind of reminded me of a chic beekeeper, no?

Mara Hoffman’s inspiration for this collection was “South American Shaman Cowboys.” Not really sure what that means, so take a look for yourself…

Spring 2012 Trend: The Athlete

I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but today’s post was inspired by the Superbowl. Although I only paid attention during commercials, I had an idea of what was going on…and all I could think of was Spring ’12.

Ever wish you could turn your track pants into a stylish outfit? I still wouldn’t recommend trying that but you are in luck for Spring.  With windbreaker jackets, side striped pants and mesh seen on the runways last September, it’s looking like the athlete is in for Spring 2012. However, the designers elevated these items to look like high quality fashion-forward pieces. So please don’t leave your house in work out clothes, unless of course you’re going to the gym.

Here’s a look at some of the sports-inspired looks for Spring ’12…

Prabal Gurung Fall 2011: It’s All In The Details

I’ve been intrigued by Prabal Gurung ever since his debut Fall 2009 collection because of his close attention to detail. Nearly 3 years later, his designs have evolved but his high quality fashion-forward aesthetic has remained the same. Just when I think it’s not possible, his collections get better and better every season. The details in his Fall 2011 collection have really stood out to me and because of my Prabal obsession…these pieces deserve their own post.

And this was only Fall ’11…have you seen Spring ’12? When it comes to the details, Prabal is on another level. It’s why he’s been one of my favorite designers since that Fall 2009 debut collection, and will continue to be one for many seasons to come.

Chi City Closet: Louis Vuitton Lockit Clutch

Ever since I saw the Louis Vuitton Lockit Clutch on the Fall 2011 runway, I knew I had to have this piece.

Photobucket

I was disappointed when I found out this was not available online and there was an immediate waitlist. Whenever I see a runway piece I can’t stop thinking about, I do whatever I can to get it. I was wait listed at several Louis Vuitton stores and never got a call. After visiting my parents in the burbs last weekend my mom told me she had a surprise for me and the first thing I noticed was a Louis Vuitton box. Clearly my runway stalking has rubbed off on my mom…

I am now the proud owner of the Louis Vuitton Fall ’11 Lockit clutch! This is by far one of the coolest bags I own. I haven’t worn this out yet (so here’s your sneak peak!) but I cannot wait to wear it.
