George Kotsiopoulos at Stuart Weitzman

Yesterday I had the pleasure of chatting with George Kotsiopoulos at the Stuart Weitzman cocktail party. FYI if you haven’t checked out their latest collection, you should definitely stop by and get yourself a new pair of heels. Lots of fun colors this season!

Anyway, George is awesome and I totally appreciate his Midwest (specifically Skokie, Illinois) roots. I myself am from Northbrook so we bonded over the ‘burbs. When I asked him if his Chicago [area] upbringing influenced his fashion career, he responded “Well I did work at Lord & Taylor…” Hey you gotta start somewhere right (fun fact: my first job was at a shoe boutique called Never Enough Shoes). So how did he end up on Fashion Police? After being in the fashion industry as a stylist and making TV appearances in the past, it was inevitable George was meant to voice his fashion opinion. He knows what he’s talking about and has the experience to back it up. However, I did tell him if a guest cancels last minute I’d be more than happy to take their place on Fashion Police 🙂

So you know I have to ask the “what do you like to do in Chicago?” question (my favorite!). Besides seeing his family in Skokie, George enjoys dining at Sunda and Pump Room, claims the gay bars in Chicago are much cooler than the ones in LA and gets excited to shop at Topman while he’s here. Sometimes I forget we’re so lucky to have a Topshop/Topman (the only other US location besides NY!)

20 Years of Red Soles

To celebrate 20 years of red soles, Christian Louboutin launched a special edition 20th anniversary collection. As you can imagine coming from someone like Louboutin, this collection is over-the-top and statement worthy. However, some of the styles are even a little too much for me!

You be the judge…

PhotobucketRose Du Desert leather knee sandals

Seems like something Rihanna would try and pull off…and would ultimately fail.

PhotobucketPigalove patent-leather ballet flats

Seems like something Alexa Chung would try and pull off…and would succeed.

PhotobucketNeuron 120 suede cage sandals

These are actually pretty awesome. No complaints. Unfortunately I’m assuming a Kardashian already owns them…

PhotobucketIsolde 160 patent-leather sandals

I call these the Momsen. You know why.

PhotobucketArmadillo Bride 120 leather pumps

No armadillos were harmed in the making of these shoes. They’re kinda like Beetlejuice gone upscale, no?

PhotobucketUnzip Booty 100 suede sandals

If these were in black I’d be ALL OVER them.

PhotobucketHighness 160 Platform Peep Toe Heels

Beyonce can wear these while performing on stage, at a basketball game, or even running errands with baby Blue. These look like they’d be her “everyday shoe.”

If you could have just one pair from this 20th anniversary collection, which one would it be?

Currently Obsessing Over: Prada Flames

There is nothing I love more than a really unique pair of shoes. Whether they’re actually worn or just admired on a shelf, shoes are what make me the happiest. And the Prada flame heels are no exception.

So between the car prints and the flames, Prada Spring ’12 was a stand-out collection…especially the accessories. I was beyond thrilled when I found out that the shoes from the collection were actually made into production! When it comes to certain avant-garde accessories, they’re not always made into production or picked up by a store so it can be disappointing after waiting months for the piece to become available…and it never does.

But thankfully the fashion gods were on my side for Prada Spring ’12 and the flame heels are definitely happening. Take a look at some of my favorites from the collection…

(my #1 pick)

Are you into the Prada flames for Spring ’12? If they’re too much for you but you like the idea, try the thong sandals…perfect way to subtly incorporate some flames into your shoe collection (and an acceptable way to wear flip flops beyond the beach).

Sweet Kicks: Sneakers For Spring

Although it’s a trend that’s not really my style, I do appreciate a well-pulled off sneaker. It’s a more casual alternative to flats or flat boots, but if you’ve taken a look at any of the more recent sneaker designs, they can sure make a statement. I have to say though, I’m not loving wedge sneakers…they remind me of JLo from her “Jenny From The Block” days, and why would we ever want to relive the fashions of 2002? So anyway…

With the Isabel Marant ‘Willow’ Sneakers totally being the new Miu Miu glitter booties of the season, see what sweet sneaks I’m loving for Spring.
