I’m not one who enjoys matching, but when it comes to Peter Pilotto and Christopher Kane I couldn’t help myself.

Tales From Chi City Closet
In most interviews I’ve done, a common question I get asked is “what’s your favorite item in your closet?” Now, this is a tough one to answer. It could be something I wear the most, an item I stare at quite often but rarely wear, or even a piece with an interesting story. Although it’s difficult to pin-point just one item I love most, I tend to give answers that incorporate a story. It gives these possessions more depth and really shows people that fashion isn’t about having a bunch of designer stuff and showing it off. And that’s where we’re going in today’s post.

Jason Wu fans…it’s time to say Wu hoo! (get it?) The famed by the First Lady designer just launched a contemporary line, Miss Wu, which is now available exclusively at Nordstrom.
The Ultimate Throwback Thursday
When I first discovered Throwback Thursday (or #tbt as some of you may know) I was excited about it, but bummed I was not in possession of any photos pre 2005. Any other pictures from my life reside with my parents in Arizona. So I made it my mission on this holiday trip to look through all of them. Due to my parents’ inability to get rid of any photos from the last 24 years of my life, there were a lot more than I originally planned.
But because the weather hasn’t been good enough to lay out in and the shopping here is sub-par (besides the Barneys in Fashion Square, which I’ve already hit up) I went through every single photo and found quite a few that really make sense of my style development. I may not have always made the best choices when it comes to fashion and if you’d like to make fun of me in the comments I am all about it…but there are many clues throughout the years that really just complete the picture. So here it goes…the ultimate Throwback Thursday.
What Why Where: Black, White & Blue
You know when you just bought something, you can’t wait to wear it, and you’ll do everything in your power to make an outfit work based around that one thing? That’s how I felt about these Elizabeth and James boots. I had my eye on them for some time, but when Shopbop had their Friends & Family sale, I was like “Carpe Diem!” and I now own one of the most impractical items a Chicagoan can possess…white boots.
