Because today is that one time of year where you can wear a ton of red, white and blue, as well as stars and stripes, eat as many hotdogs and hamburgers as you want…and no one will judge you for it (or at least I won’t). I figure by now you’ve had enough of the “what to wear to a 4th of July BBQ” posts so I’m just going to talk about a few trends that happen to be very appropriate for today’s festivities — stars and stripes.

To Invest Or Not To Invest
To Invest Or Not To Invest…that is the real question, and the answer is not as easy as one might think. Everyone says “splurge on black pumps a nice blazer, save on trendy items” but of course fashion likes to be difficult and you have to read between the lines. If we actually followed the typical investment rule, no one would be spending $700 on wedge sneakers (and yes I will continue to hate on this trend as long as I have to…and I will not apologize).
So what items should we put a decent amount of money towards? Think of me as your fashion financial advisor (except one who is really bad at math and happens to have expensive taste).
Met Gala Fashion: The Punkest
We’ve discussed the not so punk and the almost punk from last night’s Met Gala…but what about the punkest of them all? These ladies BROUGHT IT. Not saying they all should have (I’m talking to you, Madonna) but I appreciate the effort.
For the last and final Met Gala post of 2013…

Red Carpet Fashion: Met Gala 2013 (Part 1)
Tonight was my absolute favorite event of the year [that I don’t attend because it’s $25,000 a ticket and I’m not famous] — the Met Gala. Saying it’s the Oscars is fashion is an understatement. When you’re typically used to seeing strapless sparkly gowns on the red carpet (#boring), this event has anything but. This year was especially exciting with the whole punk theme (which we already discussed last week) so I decided to do my red carpet posts a little differently this time. Be looking out for part 2 coming soon, as well as a “best punk,” “almost punk,” and “not so punk” posts. Getting a little ambitious with 5 posts but I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy writing them. If not, please lie in the comments section.
So I hope you’re ready for some serious red carpet commentary, because here it goes.

In The Clear
Clear accessories, especially handbags, are a photographer’s dream during fashion week. Although I can’t recommend wearing one if you carry your life with you on a daily basis, there are ways to do see-through right. Whether it be a bag, sunglasses or even a jacket, this trend can either be your best friend (see below) or your worst enemy (ie. stripper heels).
