About a month ago I turned 27. Although I’ve asked myself the question am I too old for this? quite a few times before the big 2-7, I find that I now ask this much more frequently. Typically I’m just talking to myself and not actually asking anyone, so today I thought I would ask YOU. Am I too old for this? Are YOU? Let’s find out.
Now just because I might answer yes to some of these, doesn’t mean I don’t still do it. I might have a few more gray hairs (okay a lot more gray hairs) but it’s not going to force me to give up my crop tops just yet. I’ve already accepted the facts but hey, I’m not that old (right?!) Here we go…
Am I too old for late night eats?
Absolutely yes. A fun fact you learn the hard way as you get older is that you cannot eat the same way you did in your early 20s. Why? Try it and you’ll find out. Know that by late night eats I mean pizza, fries, wings, etc. consumed anywhere from 1am to 5am. Of course dining at Girl & The Goat at 11pm on a Saturday night because that’s the only reservation you could get is a completely different story.
Am I too old for a bra top?
Maybe. But I’m still doing it.
If anyone has a suggestion for when it’s no longer appropriate to rock a bra top, feel free to let me know in the comments. I’m hoping I still have a few more years!
Am I too old to be hungover?
Yes and no. At this point, I typically know how much I can drink so I can still be functional the following day. Sometimes those drinks sneak up on you, though, and you have no idea how much you drank until the next day (GUILTY!) BUT hungover at 22 (will day drink to cure the hangover) vs. hungover at 27 (won’t drink for at least five days and actually exercises to cure the hangover)…totally different hangovers.
Am I too old for EDM?
Yes. I basically had to force myself to no longer like EDM because I felt too old…and I started listening to it about four years ago…at that point I STILL felt too old. It’s fun to listen to, it’s definitely fun to look at, but I don’t think I do enough drugs to fully enjoy it. I’ll leave this one to the furry boot wearers…
Am I too old for see through clothes?
If I am, then…oops.
I don’t dress very girly so for me, it’s an easy way to add a feminine touch without having to wear an A-Line skirt or a ruffle dress. You feel me?
Am I too old for pre-gaming?
The word left my vocabulary quite some time ago…
Am I too old for cut-off shorts?
I think this one really depends. I feel like yes, but if I saw a fellow 27er in cut-offs and she felt good in them, I’d be cool with it. I already told you my feelings about denim cut-offs so I won’t go into it again. But for me, personally, I’m not comfortable in them…so it’s ripped and cuffed denim for me.
Am I too old for music festivals?
It’s funny because at certain stages or in different areas of said music festivals, I feel so damn old…but then other times, I feel okay. Like at Lollapalooza when I walk by Perry’s and there’s a kid so young he still has braces and is probably on some new drug I’ve never even heard of because it was just invented two years ago…I feel old. But when I go see Paul McCartney at Lolla this year, I will feel just right 🙂
Am I too old for Snapchat?
According to the facts, yes (as their largest user demographic is between the ages of 13 and 24) BUT as more brands and businesses join (including this girl) it makes me feel better about Snapping my dogs and just about every meal I consume.
Am I too old for sleeping in?
When you go to bed at 10pm, waking up any later than 8:30am feels like you’ve wasted the whole day. Every once in a while I’ll wake up at 9:30 or 10 (which means I must have really needed it) and I basically have a panic attack, as that’s like sleeping until 3pm when you’re 20 (although at that point…it doesn’t even phase you).
Am I too old for mini skirts?
See: cut-offs.
Am I too old for blogging?
Not yet (at least I hope not)…but are you still going to care what I wear when I’m 40? I guess only time will tell…

What things do you feel too old for? Or do you think you’re never too old for anything? Don’t get me wrong…I’m very okay with going to bed early, avoiding diaper denim and crowds full of neon and glow sticks. The question is…are you?

Interesting your post. You are never to old for anything. Embrace your age.

Happy birthday! I’m turning 28 and a few weeks later will attend my first Lolla…to see Paul! I plan on wearing whatever I want (NO flower crown) and just having a good time!
