Yesterday was one of those glorious days where my shows didn’t start until the afternoon, which means I could sleep in…or I could get work done and go to Bergdorfs. Option 2 happened. Highlights of the day: I wore a sequin sweatsuit, got a sick pair of Charlotte Olympia flats, and hung out with my girl Miss Ladyfinger. Then onto my first show…
NYFW Fall 2013 Day 2
If you’re not in NYC, you may have heard about this little storm called Nemo. Not sure where this name came about but let’s just say it was not easy to dress for. I assumed everyone would be dressed down at least a little bit (after all, would YOU want to ruin a $1,500 pair of shoes?) but I was pretty wrong. I didn’t think I’d be the only one in jeans and a t-shirt with flat boots, but I was wrong. It’s probably the Chicago in me that wants to go utilitarian. But at least I didn’t look like the idiot outside Lincoln Center in a super short and tight mini dress, with no tights and platform pumps. Yes, this really happened. But let’s get to the real fashion now.
NYFW Fall 2013 Day 1
I’m trying something a little different this year for my fashion week posts. In the past, I’ve done one designer at a time. But because that’s extremely overwhelming (for both you and me), so I decided to take a different approach. I’m going day-by-day for the entire week, also sans-camera (I’m really smart and left my memory card at home in Chicago…but thanks to my trusty iPhone/Instagram and Fashion GPS, we’re all good). Would love to hear your thoughts. But first, let’s get started. Check out that sweet Insta…
Fashion Week Before Your Very Eyes
Today is the first day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion week (also known as Fashion Weak, Style Daze or When Can I Take These Damn Shoes Off? Week). Because technology is super cool, live streaming the shows has been all the rage. This year, you can watch all of the MBFW Fall 2013 shows RIGHT HERE on ChiCityFashion.
Fashion Weak vs Fashion Week
Like I mentioned yesterday on Twitter, I’m pretty sick of hearing about “fashion week” (even though it hasn’t started yet). Mostly because the words are way overused, especially by the people that say are going but actually have no purpose of being there. But let’s excuse my rant for the time being and break down the typical “fashion week survival guide” or “NYFW necessities” post. Because this isn’t your ordinary fashion week essentials feature…this really separates the fashion WEAK from fashion week. Get what I’m saying?
