Fall 2011 Obsessions: Christopher Kane, Miu Miu, Missoni

I have many obsessions when it comes to fashion, however there are a few things I have in mind that I absolutely must own for this coming Fall season. It may come as a shock that Proenza is not incorporated into this post, but let’s be real…it’s only August and Fall merchandise is just rolling out. Plenty of time for some new Fall 2011 obsessions 🙂

For now, here’s what I’m coveting this Fall…

PhotobucketMiu Miu Glitter & Suede Bootie

After studying the Fall ’11 collections, I couldn’t help but obsess over all of the Miu Miu glitter shoes. Of all the styles and colors though, this one sticks with me the most. Glitter and Miu Miu…do you need anything more?

Photobucket  Christopher Kane Short Samantha Aqua wool-crepe dress

I already posted about how much I love my Christopher Kane aqua clutch…so you can imagine how I felt when I came across  this this dress. The neckline and pockets are made of the same material as the bag…genius!

Photobucket Missoni Altea Wool-Blend coat

It’s very difficult for me to even think about wearing a coat right now (especially because it’s been warm in Chicago for no more than 2 months) but it’s Missoni…and it’s awesome. I like how it can be dressed up or down and it has that classic Missoni look we all know and I love.

Those are my key obsessions for the time being, but I know there will be many more to come. What are you coveting for Fall 2011?

Supertrash Blogger Contest

Last month I posted about my new Supertrash Daimy dress that I’m absolutely obsessed with. Well, that dress got me entered in the Supertrash blogger contest, exclusively on their Facebook page!

There’s only 6 of us so I’d love it if you could vote for me. All you have to do is just “like” my photo.

Thank you in advance!

Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty

Yesterday, I posted about my amazing weekend in NYC but I had to elaborate on one thing…the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Met.

Photobucket

Ever since I heard about this back in April, I told myself I would do whatever I could to make it to this exhibit. And I am SO glad I did. It was truly a unique experience and it was an honor to be in the presence of Alexander McQueen’s genius work.

Photobucket

The dark atmosphere with somewhat eerie sounds in contrast with the intricate and beautiful clothes was just mind blowing. Footage of his most famous runway shows were playing on screens around the exhibit which were amazing to see.

It was so interesting to see all of the different types of people there because it was definitely unexpected. From the shorts and tennis shoes tourists to the fashion obsessed twenty-somethings in their Louboutins, there was quite the diverse crowd which really shows how many people love and respect Alexander McQueen.

Photobucket

Unfortunately, you’re not allowed to take photos in this exhibit (which I clearly didn’t listen to…I had to get some pictures to show you guys!) so I don’t have the best footage here. But I did my best, and I hope these inspire you to go see the exhibit yourself. This is the final week of Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty. So if you’re in NYC, go see it and if you’re not…do whatever you can to get there. I promise you won’t regret it.

I can’t believe I was THIS close to the armadillo shoes…life changing. To keep the memory lasting, I thought a little gift for myself was in order.

Have you seen the exhibit yet? I would love to hear what you think!

Weekend in NYC: Meeting Proenza & The McQueen Exhibit

I just spent the most amazing weekend in New York and I’m so excited to share my experience with you. I originally booked the trip because I had a meeting with Proenza Schouler to design a custom PS1 I won from CharityBuzz in May. This was part of the Fashion & Friends For Japan auction where numerous designers and other influential fashion insiders donated fabulous experiences all for Japan relief.

Photobucket

This was by far the best experience I’ve ever had and I’m still speechless from the meeting. I had the help of Jack & Lazaro themselves who gave final approval for my one-of-a-kind design. Unfortunately, I wasn’t allowed to take photos inside the studio but I did get to sneak one in with Jack and Lazaro.

Photobucket

Of course it was only appropriate to be decked out in Proenza Schouler head-to-toe for my meeting. Proenza SS ’11 dress with SS ’10 shoes and the classic PS1 in hand.

Photobucket

As far as the final outcome though…I will be receiving the bag in late October/early November so that will be a HUGE Chi City Closet post that we’ll all just have to wait for!

So what else did I do in NYC this weekend?

Went to the McQueen exhibit at the Met (full details tomorrow)

Best of the Fall 2011 Ad Campaigns

The Fall 2011 ad campaigns are out and overall I’m less than impressed. However, there are a few that really stuck out to me and I’m really looking forward to seeing these in all the major fashion magazines this season.

Photobucket

It looks like they’re playing Wii fit or something…in fabulous Lanvin outfits of course.

Photobucket

This is already the most talked about Fall 2011 ad, and I can see why. It’s strangely fabulous.

Photobucket

A little dark for my taste, but I’m obsessed with the glitter pants for Fall…which is why I may or may not have ordered 2 pairs from Moda Operandi 🙂

Photobucket

The opposite sort of visual from the previous ad, I love the colors shown for M Missoni. I also need to have that handbag…immediately.

Photobucket

Fierce as it’s finest…need I say more?
